Did we really get it wrong?

No my friend. You're missing the point.

Let's say you're driving and you think it's a 40 limit when it's actually only 30. You've made an error but that's not because you're ignoring the law it's because you genuinely thought one limit applied when it didn't.

What could be the consequences of that? If there's a speed camera there, you'll get points on your licence and a fine. If there isn't, you won't.

Someone could run into the road and you could hit them and kill or injure them. You could see them run into the road and avoid them or the fact you're going faster than you should means you can't. Hitting them might not have happened if you'd been doing 30 as you could have braked in time but there's no guarantee either way. You might have been doing 30 and not seen them as you were distracted. They could be killed if you were doing 30 and could get away with cuts and bruises at 40mph.

The point is it's all ifs, buts and maybes. Even if we'd known exactly what we needed to do and put Aguero on for, say, Garcia, he might have scored but he might not. But Garcia might have been able to block a Bayern attack that brought them an equaliser. And maybe, as often happens in football, they'd have got another. That happened in Madrid, where Mancini failed to go to 4-5-1 which might have meant we won and qualified. And maybe we'd have gone further. And maybe....

OK I accept we're no worse off for this stage of this campaign if they go for it and lose but we lose the 2 coefficient points we would have got by winning it. And maybe that's enough to keep us in Pot 3 instead of 2.

The point is it's all speculation and chance. There's no guarantees in football but it's not like the miscalculation has killed anyone or is going to put us into administration.

A whole new low for this forum this thread.

God help a few if we went on to meet a team from Turkey as it would be far too much for many of them....

I cannot believe the hysteria from our own fans about the possible 4-2 result : it is all ifs and buts anyway - what would we have said if Aguero had come on and we had ended up 3-3 or God forbid he got a knock before Saturday!

Total conjecture!

I expect it from the rag media but not us!

Seriously how many were aware before kick off that 4-2 would win it - everyone I know at work including rags did not know and just assumed we had to win by 3 goals whatever the score - I bet the pundits didnt either until someone whispered in their ear in the 2nd half. They act as if they knew all along but didny bring it up until after the match

If we are going to win it we will - simples

One more maybe, maybe Aguero gets clear and in desperation not to finish second somebody brings him down with a lunge that puts him out for a month, you're right nobody knows so let's move on enjoy the win and look forward to a great tie in the last 16

To be perfectly fair, from what I have read the vast majority of posters really don't care about it, which I suspect mirrors what the vast majority of City fans actually think, it's just a very small minority

what the fuck is wrong with this forum?

A fantastic result and performance like last nights and yet every thread i click on is some fuckin twat moaning.
This site is attracting more and more fuckin plastic, pretend gobshite pricks by the day.

A spectacularly miserable read after a magnificent result says it all.

Starter of this thread is a twat, my opinion.

How so?

Does it not worry you that nobody in attendance from the club knew how many goals we needed to win our group? It's not the end of the world but it's an amateur mistake.

I'm not directing blaming Pellers, he has to worry about player positioning and formation etc. But someone behind him should have known.
