Diego novaretti

Well I suppose if Maicon stays and keeps fit and is 3rd choice right back maybe Richards could act as CB 4th choice covering for Kompany. Alternatively if we are signing all those midfield players Garcia could slot back as 4th choice in the odd game or two. Didn't do Carrick any harm across the road and that is where Kompany started as a DM.

And Yaya can play as centre back, he did so for Barca when required, in fact he was superb in the Champions League final when he played there. I'm sure Pellegrini remembers Yaya as an emergency defender at Barca from his time in Spain. And with a few new midfielders coming into the team we should have enough options to be able to spare Yaya.

It's amazing how many people are moaning about city signing a player for next to nothing. There is literally 0 points negative about this.

For arguments sake -

It might stop us bringing in a top quality centre half
It may stop Rekik getting in his chance

In order...

To replace whom?
Pellegrini has a track record of giving youth a chance to prove themselves.

Also can't Jack play at centre half? Micah can play RB or CB. Zabba can play RB and LB. Garcia can play CB as can Yaya. Maicon is a RB. With Novaretti coming in I think we're pretty much covered.

All conjecture of course as I'm sure that Manny will have it all in hand :)

Lescott, we should have 3 great quality centre backs, not just 2 and then ok back ups.

Did pellegrini bring any youngsters thorugh at Madrid? (I have no idea of the answer)

Rodwell CM/CB
Zaba RB/LB/CM
Komps CB/CM
Nastasic CB/LB
Novaretti CB/LB
Maicon RB
Richards RB/CB
Garcia CM/CB
Yaya CM/CB
Milner CM/RM/LM/RB
Clichy LB
Kolarov LB
Rekik CB/LB

we have a very versatile team, with a lot of defensive options.

Erm... he could be a disabled Titus Bramble for all we know. but because he's joining City he must be the bossest bestest unknown player in the world.

Probably would have done if there wasn't a massive pressure to play Alonso, Kaka, Ronaldo, Arbeloa, Benzema, Raul, Guti, Casillas etc

Tall, powerful, good in the air and not afraid to get stuck in.

Sounds a good option, he'll never be our first choice when everyone's fit but he'll be a handy option.

For free he could be okay. I mean he is a 4th choice CB and hopefully we wont need him much often meaning we wont have big injuries to Kompany, Nastasic and and other CB coming in as a 3rd CB.
(I expect selling Lescott).

Our defence could be shit scary next year
