A Blue has just txt me to have a look online at Jamie Carraghers column in the Mail this morning, he asks the question ''would City fans have Mancini back''
Hes suggesting that we are going slightly backwards under Pellers and that he will never be as popular as Roberto.
Now i was a big Mancini fan but its about time we moved on now and we could do without retired average Scouse footballers sticking their noses in

I guess he will be upset about the Hart situation

I don't think most City fans would have got rid of him but it's irrelevant, it's done now and he isn't coming back. I doubt Pellegrini will ever be as popular as Mancini. Mancini had a fairly unique opportunity in being the one to win us our first trophies in so long. The manner he did it in will also be hard to repeat. Beating the rags en-route to the FA Cup and then winning the title on goal difference in a very very memorable campaign of dazzling highs with comeback wins, twists and turns and gut-punching lows. However, it's also irrelevant. What's important is whether Pellegrini does a good job. He's doing ok, and if we sort the defence out, he will be successful.

I am starting to worry just lately I happen to be agreeing with nearly everything you say, once again you are spot on with what you say ;-)

Costel is largely unproven against opposition of any real quality. I wonder if Pelle would have picked him over Hart if we were playing Arsenal or Liverpool today ?

Mancini picked him v Chelsea in the FA Cup Semi at Wembley.

Of course OB1 and he did well enough that day. That's why I said largely though, in that he has had little time against quality opposition. If we had been playing a title contender today then dropping Hart would have been a bigger decision I reckon, that's all I was saying. Maybe Costel will still be in the net when we play Spurs in a few weeks but I don't see it myself.

Who knows about the Spurs match? If Hart has not played by then, it's an even bigger call to play him. That's the problem with this 'brave decision'.

Not see the article but it doesn't sound like the kind of thing we need people writing. Anyway, I don't agree that we are going backwards but I am one of those that thinks you need time to implement the changes Pellegrini is attempting. I also believe in giving a new manager time - i.e. at least a season - unless they are an absolute disaster.

I don't want to get into the debate about Mancini again but to countenance having him back would be wrong. I am generally against re-employing players and managers, it rarely ends well. We re-employed another City icon in Big Mal and it ended-up setting us back about 30 years - once bitten, twice very shy. I nearly leaked tears of joy when SWP returned but that situation went downhill rapidly. Every situation is different and Jose at Chelsea may well prove to be an exception to the "never go back" rule there may be some irony there.

Pretty sure they had similar ones about Mancini and Lesley not that long ago and that worked out alright for us. Add Carragher to the list of pundits we can laugh at when celebrating silverware later in the year.
