Big big call to drop Joe Hart. Right or wrong, he's putting his head on the block.

I'm disappointed by it if I'm honest. IMO dropping him will open a can of worms.

I'm angry with joe but this is an epic call from the manager. Can't see it ending well if I'm honest. Pantilimon is an alright keeper but in the grand scheme of things can we say he has the presence and ability of hart ? I also wonder if he realises that by not working with joe and trying to get him even better people on the coaching and mental side to help him through his slump he will ultimately damage the moral of the dressing room ?

This is a big call that will not endear himself to the media or The FA. We almost lost joe under Hughes and I hope to god we aren't getting flippant and not seeing the bigger picture

Its a no win Billy.

He'd have been criticised for being weak, and praised by others for keeping faith, had he gone with Hart.

Even now, like you say,he may well be opening himself up to unrest.I only hope Pants has a blinder......

It's not a call I would have wanted to make one way or the other. Hopefully the one thing it'll do is get Joe focussed on getting back to his best.

I don't go along with the idea it's a brave call by Pellegrini. The brave call would've been backing him.

Problem is, it doesnt really matter how Joe focusses, unless Pants starts making mistakes how do you justify bringing him back into the side?

Keeper different from any other position, chopping and changing can cause real problems.

I don't see this ending well but hope that I am wrong. I would also be very disappointed to see another team benefiting from England's No 1.

Having said that, Pellers is just calling it as he sees it regarding 'Stupid Goals' and the rest of the Defence must now know that their places are under deep scrutiny. And now Pants is under serious pressure! Time will tell if this is a masterstroke or a clanger from Pellers, as there seems to be little middle ground to play with.

I agree ... it's why I think dropping him is the wrong call. Lets say Pants plays really well. What then? England's number 1 on the bench for more than a week or two is going to turn into the kind of hoopla we really don't need.

FWIW i don't think it'll be a problem amongst the squad and in the dressing room. Joe's a big boy and he will know that his form has dictated his dropping, as will the rest of the players.

Many were calling for the manager to drop Joe after the Munich game but he stuck by him. Hart had a reprieve but fucked up again. Only so many times you can keep faith with him. Right call IMO. (famous last words)....I thought Panti had a calmness about him at Newcastle. Good luck to the big fella.

Apparant zenophobia from the english Der Stürmer, surely not

Expect bids in January from all the top clubs for joe hart, he will not want to stay here now if we aren't backing him

I just hope the boss realises after all the changes he is making there will be fewer places for him to hide. We got there in the end after a very very dull display against Newcastle. People will now be looking at him, his tactics and coaching staff if the performances and results don't drastically improve. I hope we don't lose joe and then realise how foolish we have been. remember how empires fall

I feel if true it is really the only call Pelle could make. I mean I love JH (not in a gay way) but I do, as fans we all do I think, its special knowing we have Englands no1 between the sticks but how many bollocks can one player drop and still get picked week in week out and what message does that send to the other key players in the team. As for the effect this will have on the match day team, hopefully it will make them all realise that they are not undroppable and the management expects them to play to their potential. Pelle looks to have dropped the one player in any team that is rarely dropped but many will justifiably argue he has dropped himself. Kun and El magico in particular have been working their backsides off doing exactly what is says on their tins, how are they to feel when others are not.

Hmmm ... I see what you're trying to do but you are WAY wide of the mark. To begin with, which top clubs in Europe need a keeper? After you've figured that out tell me which one of them is likely to bid for Hart, someone who's been dropped by City because of his poor form over a longish period of time.

Hart's going nowhere and more importantly, he won't want to go anywhere unless City actually go out and sign an out and out replacement for him first. That kind of call won't be made until the summer.

I do not see it as an end of the road for Joe move. And we will not sell Hart. Pellegrini stood by Joe and gave him support, he went away and performed solidly for England and then made a huge mistake at Chelsea. For me the right call would be to drop him - not for good - but get him on the training pitch, get him studying and working hard. Get him back to basics and working hard. He exploded onto the scene, became England no.1 and this is his first major spell of poor form. Work on it off pitch, build back the confidence and psychology and then come back fighting in a few weeks. As harsh as it would be to drop Pantilimon should he not put a foot wrong, Hart is the no.1 and when he has recovered from this spell he will be back to the keeper we know he can be. I actually think it is the right decision. He will come back better from this and will be in top form for the rest of the season and for England.

Whilst some could argue he will suffer from being dropped, he needs to have the mentality where he says "I want to play, and I will do anything to make sure I do". Work hard and get back in the side.
