Simply because he has technique.

Probably the biggest problem our so called fringe players have is a worrying lack of technical quality.

Question ... you think MP would consider moving for Pirlo next summer. I personally think a 3 man midfield of him, Yaya, and Fernandinho would be quite something.
It won't happen now, but I'd have preferred De Rossi over Pirlo. Teams need to win the battles before they can win the war, and this is the only real part of the game plan that is letting us down. If the back four was being properly shielded, we'd be ahead by a distance by now.

There were a lot of similarities between last night and the Sunderland defeat.
Richards, kolarov snd milner all started and garcia was put in a two man midfield.
The result is the same - we get overrun in midfield and the players that come in aren't technically good enough to keep hold of possession to compensate for it.
So we look completely disjointed with absolutely no rhythm to our game.
And dzeko was an absolute disgrace.

Much as I am an admirer, his recruitment would only be a stop-gap measure, a bit like when we brought in Pizarro?

He would be fantastic for the headlines and impact on some of our play, but would rather we went guns out for Gundogan, Iniesta - even Ross Barkley.

That lad at Everton is the best youngster I have seen Rooney. Absolutely wonderful technique and think he would have it in him to get about that midfield and make a significant contribution.

For me, £40m - go get Barkley and Shaw from Southampton. Two English lads who can go right into the team now.

100% agree. We need English players, so we must sign Barkley & Shaw.

Bang on and I fear Dzeko might start having a negative impact inside the dressing room, never mind on the pitch.

Never seen a player be so self-serving and derive no enjoyment from what his fellow team-mates might have done.

Fair play to Pellegrini for at least giving him a chance but in hindsight, it is a shame we didn't get rid in the summer. Hopefully we can find a taker in January because he needs to go asap.

Please let him go. He is useless.

its not like we didn't know he'd be Le Sulk mark2 if he didn't start most games

kept him around just in case but he's been usurped by The Beast so best for both parties if we let him go in Jan now

I felt a bit sorry for Dzeko yesterday. His first 3 or 4 touches were all in quite difficult situations. He didn't make the best of them but they weren't that easy. After that the confidence visibly drained from him. Summed up really by his expression of sheer misery when he couldn't quite get a touch and Negredo scored.

I don't really think he's good enough and expect he will be sold. But some of the criticism of him and his attitude has been harsh.

I think Dzeko is demonstrating exactly what we see when a player wants out.

We saw it with Balotelli, they start to down tools. Tevez was the exception to the rule.

Dzeko, like Balotelli, will always score goals, wherever they end up.

It's the wider contribution to the team that is the flaw in their games.

They don't need to be world class, you only have to look at Southampton. The majority of their team were considered journeymen.
Lalana is no spring chicken, yet he shone recently for England. Simply because he has technique.

he was once

and he's hardly an old boiler now
