I think its vital that next season we prioritise the league and the Champions league, with the FA cup and League Cup being used to play some of the young lads and players that need a game.

We have paid the price for having all our best players out at some point of the season and its clear we have been too reliant on two or three of them.

The guy I sit next to is a right moaning tw*t when were 4-0 up hes screaming for Pellegrini to take Aguero, Silva, Yaya off etc and im sat there thinking 'are you joking, I want us to get another few goals yet you soppy sod'

Now looking back I'm thinking that he might actually be right to a certain extent :)

Good point. There is absolutely no point scoring 6 one week and then not getting 3 points the following game.

He will be given money to spend and expected to win the league next season but if we are adrift at Christmas the axe should fall just as it did with Hughes.

Why would we be adrift at Christmas next season when we're still in the race with 5/6 games to go this season ? Total logic fail there once again from you Rob. Think you need to go for a long walk because you've been systematically at the manager's throat since our first defeat of the season back in September. It's a bit tragic when the guy's already won a trophy and has made such a marked and stark improvement on last season.

There's a bigger picture happening at City also which you're completely missing. The current squad is one which the previous two managers built. Pellegrini will be given the same time and space which Mancini and before him Hughes got. There'll be no knee jerking because Liverpool won yesterday or if we don't win the title. The expectation will be greater next season but nobody involved at the club will be lamenting Pellegrini's appointment. He's exactly what everyone from Sheikh Mansour downwards wanted for City last summer because he is not only stabilising but improving a team that was at the end of last season ready to be broken up because of the amount of dissatisfaction amongst the playing staff.

R u honestly suggesting that even if Yaya was not injured, you would replace him with Garcia? Garcia is the perfect 2nd string off the bench type for us. Yaya has been sensational this season, with the added benefit of becoming a free kick specialist..............Garcia is OK, but not worthy of taking over from Yaya

Yaya is sensational with the ball. Off-the ball he is like a headless chicken.

Fact - First 20 minutes Liverpool were all over us. Then Javi comes on for Toure and then all of a sudden we get back into the game. This is no coincidence. Javi does work off-the ball, he frustrates Liverpool by getting certain areas that Liverpool want to get into. Without making tackles and interceptions he influences the game. Yaya must be sold to Juventus or something. We simply cannot be held hostage anymore.

we got back in the game when Garcia came on? I thought we were battered the first half with or without Garcia. The difference was when Milner came on imo

We were battered in the first 20 minutes. As soon as Garcia came on we slowly grew into the game. Second half we were the only team on the pitch. It was total domination.

Toure defo must not be part of our plans next season. He is one of the reasons we haven't done well in the champions league in recent seasons. The man is a liability. It is time that we actually used our £34 million man (Fernandinho) in his real position.

It was always going to be that way for the first twenty minutes, we were playing the occasion and a Liverpool side that were pumped up for it.

My only criticism is that he should have started with Javi and Fern infront of the back four and give Yaya license to roam.

It's getting towards the end of the season so here is my view of Pellegrini.....not that it is worth much on this forum.

He has been good for the club in that he has improved some of the fringe players performances, the squad is happier as a whole and more importantly some of the free flowing attacking football has come back. It appears the groundwork is being set to provide a continuation of youth players into the first team in the future.

The bad side is that tactically Pellegrini appears naïve, and sets up the same way in each and every game without a thought for the opposition and how to get the win and hence 3 points or progression to the next round of whichever cup we're in. There appears to be a first choice eleven and barely any use of the squad, which then leaves some players open to injuries and long periods of time out due to playing nearly every game whatever the opposition.

I'm hopeful Pellegrini will make good use of his experiences this season and treat it as a learning curve, we have competed in all four competitions we have entered.

I would class both Mancini and Pellegrini in the same bracket, both are good managers but neither are at the top table when it comes to the best managers around. Each has their good and bad points, like all managers, Pellegrini has brought a more consistent attractive playing style to the team, but we appear to be naïve and prone to making game changing mistakes due to increased pressure on the defence. The offside trap works most of the time, although against better teams it does get breached.

There are a few managers around who are better than Pellegrini for me, whether they would have achieved more would depend on their adaptation or familiarity to the Premier League and European competition.

You have to treat the league as a campaign and that means resting key players when you can. If you are 4-0 with 20 to play then taking off a Yaya or Silva makes sense as it gives fringe players valuable game time and saving a 20 minutes every other game adds up over a season in terms of freshness and avoiding 'tired' injuries for our key players. Winning the league is our primary objective. Twatting teams 7-0 is just a bonus.

Yea exactly and that's why we should forget about the two domestic cups and focus on the league and CL

I think if we had a fully fit squad for even most of the season then we could have done that but the injuries to Jovetic, Aguero and Nastasic have probably been the killers really

Chelsea have had it pretty much spot on this season, early exits in both competitions and in with a shout in the big two competitions with a month to go in the season, can't ask for more than that really.

Milner came in, did more in 5 minutes than Navas and Nasri together whole game.

I couldn't decided whether to take the time to read all your post carefully but I spotted that gem and decided not to bother: Navas made more key passes than any other player on either side. Oh and Nasri made as many key passes as Milner and those stats don't include Nasri's pass to Silva that led to the second goal.
