Yeah, no criticism for Pellegrini today. Anyone who watched the match could see that it was his tactical changes that basically swung the game in our favour. You can't blame the manager for individual errors or refereeing decisions.

One could argue that he got the team wrong in the first place and left it until 2 thirds of the way through to make any changes (other than the one forced on him by Toure's injury).

I'm not convinced that taking Dzeko off while we had the momentum was the best move either, although I can see why he did it.

It was rather reminiscent of the away leg in Bayern. Our initial selection was hopelessly exposed and the deficit was overturned after Richards went off early and was replaced by Zabaleta.

He started with the wrong team, it was Liverpool away, you need tougher stronger players than navas and nasri.
He knows that now and he'll sort it next season, the same v Sunderland and co.
The fa cup too.

What he really needed yesterday was decent cover for Vinny, asked for in Jan and didn't get it.

I agree with your last point not the points about Navas and Nasri. These two have produced before in big games

It was a borderline decision to play Kompany. And it blew up in our face. We needed an alternative, but didn't feel we had it

I'm not sure we would have gone 2 nil down with Jimmy and Garcia in the side. Boring I know but I'd have gone to contain and take a draw or a nicked win.
Not pellers style I know sometimes needs must. We really couldn't afford to lose that game.

I think most of us agree that Liverpool away with the special circumstances and the way Liverpool play at home, it was by no means a game for the likes of Nasri and Navas. Great players, however they won't win you the war. Milner should have started and maybe Garcia with Yaya in a more foreward role. Than again, it's all in hindsight and we will never know if it would have changed the way things went.

When Milner came on we looked far better. But before he came on, the game was already changing direction. It didi for the last 10 minute sof the 1st half. Yaya went off early and the logical replacement was Garcia and it was by no means a moment to replace him with Milner of another foreward. It was however a blow to the team and they needed time to recoup that wasn't there unfortunately.

Finally on Pellegrini's behalf, I wondered why he changed Dzeko for Aguero in a time of play we had the momentum and total control. Yet, if he hadn't done so and we would have lost 2-3, I would have blamed him for not bringing on Aguero. Hindsight is a beautiful thing isn't it ...

We have hindsight though.
We knew the ref was bent, we knew Jimmy should have played, we knew anfield is a tough place to go.

Who you mean is pellers didn't have it. As I say he will do next year.

Hopefully anyway.

I don't mind if a team selection doesn't work, I don't mind if there is a problem on the pitch that the opposition is exploiting. What I do mind is the manager doing fuck all about it till the car wreck occurs.
Pellegrini does this far too often I'm afraid.

His excuse would be he has trust in his players to turn it around because he's "a nice guy". Top manager change it straight away not him though useless ****
