Discussion about money in football sickens me

Is option 2 a genuine option? I think we're overstating how high we could finish in the scenario. Also, if it's possible to finish second with all of those youth players, it's not impossible to finish first. I don't think either would happen. Would like to see youth given more of a chance but it needs to be done sensibly.
I'm not saying we play entirely youth players, just that we spend LESS spend money, and only when needed and not superfluously.

For example, I don't believe Sanchez is a necessary signing, if we need depth then I say give it to a returning loanee (Roberts) or academy player, stuff like that.
We will buy where necessary like the fullbacks and I understand that much, but if we look at our past signings and the failures of many of them, you can also see that money doesn't always work, players like Nolito, Navas and Mangala (off the top of my head) were not necessary and our own players would have been much better to have instead, respectively, Barker, Roberts and Tosin.

Agree with Citymad - the more we spend the less I enjoy it. Seems we can't develop or scout our own players anymore, no matter what Pep does we'll be seen as having bought any success he delivers.

Thanks, agree with you too. Even if we win the league we all know what the headlines will be.

Who gives a shit

The team cost an absolute fortune when we won the league both times

Nobody gives a fuck when we are winning

It's 3 extremely mediocre seasons that have started the introspection

Barker can't get a game at Rotherham,Roberts wasn't signed when we got Navas & Tosin simply wasn't ready. Nor are the majority of the other saviours.

We will continue with our current policy unless an absolute fluke arises.

Does anyone remember when Paul Lake, David White, Andy Hinchcliffe, Paul Moulden, Ian Scott, Ian Brightwell, Steve Redmond, Mike Sheron and Gerry Taggart were going to take us to the higher echelons of English football. Its a misty eyed view that will never happen now as it never did back then.

If we get just one player like Foden break into the first team and keep his place then I see that as success. When we signed Bernardo Silva had Pep heard of Phil Foden I wonder?

For me personally I don't enjoy it as much these days. The amount we've spent has changed the way I feel about football and its sad to say but I expect us to win every game.

Chill mate, lower your expectations a bit & enjoy it for what it is cos it's actually pretty dam good.

If that doesn't work there's a small team of out of town imposters who might suit you.
