Whilst I appreciated what he did, I was happy to see the back of Mancini, under Pellegrini we've played arguably the best football I've seen.

There's no drama with the man, he's a calm, understated fella who wants what's best for the club, coupled with making us now a force in Europe.

If/when Pellegrini gets moved on for Pep, I hope we get the chance to properly give him a send off, he's been brilliant for us, and I'm now gutted that we'll be parting company with him.

Some people may have had an affinity with mancini, but there are plenty who don't.

I'm not sure Pellegrini could have done what he did, turning around the club's fortunes, & he'll always be a legend for that, but once he'd done it, I couldn't wait to see the back of him. He likes to take credit for building this team, but the great thing about last night was that there was only one of Mancini's signings in the team, & he was the worst player on the pitch. Plus only one on the bench. This was Pellegrini's creation, with no Mancini influence whatsoever & it's one of the club's best ever performances.

A very good point, and I'm not saying that to denigrate Mancini. My only issue with Pellegrini, and I accept it's something that isn't likely to change, is that I wish he'd show a little more pragmatism against the top sides more often. Our 3 best performances in this competition (Munich, Rome & Seville, all away) have all been built on midfield solidity and counterattacking, and no coincidence for me that in those games we were missing Kun, Ya Ya, Kompers (Munich), Kun, Ya Ya, Kompers and Silva (Rome), and Kun and Silva (Seville), and were forced to play a certain way as a consequence.
Returning to the point about Pellegrini's creation, I'd also chuck in obvious praise for his man management skills. Dimichelis, Mangala, Fernando, Sterling, Navas (and they were even beginning to start on Otamendi), have all been the subject of initial media criticism and ridicule, and all have been managed through it and are now in excellent form.

I'm pretty sure theres a hell of a lot who have an affinity with mancini, you can like both managers who have brought enormous success.

Always find it really odd when people say Pellegrini couldn't have done the job Mancini did. Pellegrini's record in terms of taking sides from a very low base and turning them into CL teams is how he built his reputation in Europe. I would suggest at the very least he would have had similar results to Mancini - just without all the bellyaching and drama and histrionics. He probably would've been better in the transfer market too. Mancini bought a lot of players with little thought as to how his team were going to play.

You could argue Mancini had an easier job in a way. No FFP and fewer squad restrictions was a big plus. The make up of that initial squad was also easier to change as there were a few ageing players that were ready to be moved on and a few of Hughes signings were just getting in to the grove of premier league football.

Pellers came in with a full squad and FFP so much less room to manoeuvre.

Honestly, I think we could easily play De Bruyne or Silva in place of Yaya in that system if we wanted to. Yaya was the least important player in terms of the shape and functionality of the team, so I don't think we'd lose a whole lot by having someone else playing slightly further forward instead of him. It could even be the long term solution to the Yaya problem, as I think we lose that reliance on him when we play with that formation.

You're a hater. Yaya had his best game of the season.

they way I look at it ,our squad building to where we are now started with hughes, like it or not under hughes we signed some quality players who did a great job(under mancini),I never understand this mancini or pellegrini,I love them both for what they have done ,and I don't have a shred of doubt that pellegrini would of been just as good as mancini at building that squad.
