But would Denayer and Lopes be better than Otamendi/Mangala and De Bruyne/Sterling? Because if they're not I don't see your point.

Is there any point in having Mangala or Nasri then if they are not as good ?

People don't seem to be able to treat our young players with the same attitude as the older signings. If a kid makes a mistake, it costs us & it was the wrong decision to play him. If an experienced player does the same, he can try again the week after , if he makes the same mistake again the week after that, let him have another go. Then if he does it again, drop him for a few games then bring him back & let him have another go. If the kid fucks up, it's because he isn't good enough & it's too much of a risk to play him, as we can't afford any mistakes.

Likewise, if the kid isn't looking as good as Aguero at 18, he probably won't make it at City. Then we sign Delph, who probably wouldn't have got in our EDS team if he was 18 years old now.

For some reason, the kids have to be worldbeaters to be worthy of 5 mins but the first team squad don't.

I think the owners and Pellegrini deserve more respect than is being shown in this discussion. I'll go back to pretty much my first post on the subject today. Khaldoon stated categorically that young players would not be put into the first team if it compromised the first team. So you've got it from the horse's mouth. Youth is important, but it won't be given it's head unless the coaching staff think the player is good enough.

Now if you think you're in a better position to judge whether a player is good enough than Txiki, Manuel, and the rest of the coaching staff that's your business.
Thats why this forum was created and this thread
If everyone agreed with each other it would be a pretty boring place to visit.

Plenty of point in having both in that they're able to step in for the high pressure games and do a job where the inexperienced youngsters would be overwhelmed. Wasn't a fan of the decision to sell Lopes but the year in Turkey will probably do Denayer good.

That's the catch 22 clause used over & over. They are always right because they know more.

Well here's on for you. Pozo.

They were fucking wrong to pkay him at cf & anyone who watches the kids coukd have told them that. In fact they were completey fucking stupid & did him considrrable harm.

I agree. I enjoy using Bluemoon and don't have a problem with disagreeing with people's points of view. I'm just pointing out to hilts that ultimately I'm going to back the judgment of the guys who see these young players every day. I've barely seen anything of them and i'm betting the same applies to hilts too.

in this particular instance this entire discussion seems like a needless exercise in slagging off Pellegrini and criticising him where no criticism is warranted. There's also a very health dose of disingenuousness to some of the posts that are being made. If selling two international centre forwards and replacing them with an 18 year kid who has never played in the PL isn't showing faith in youth then I don't know what is.

I'm sure it will.

It will also take away any loyalty he felt towards the club & weaken our squad as he is a better player than some who are in it.

Seeing as he is ineligible for the Champions Lg, you could say we are selling two strikers & showing faith in the invisible man.

Neither would be true. It's just the fact that we are using Silva, Sterling & DeBruyne as cover for the 2nd striker spot & needed to offload.

I didn't think Pozo was good enough full stop to ever make it in our first team, but if you're referring to him being played during our injury crisis last season, i'm not sure what options there were at the time in the EDS other than him. Kelechi had gotten a serious injury. If there were other players who should've been given that chance in front of him then I'm not aware of them. In terms of whether it did him considerable harm or not, again I don't know, but I do know that I didn't think he was good enough play in the first team and he has subsequently been sold so that suggests the powers that be felt that way too.

I don't think that the manager is always right, or that the owners are always right, however equally I do think that they all make decisions based on what they think is best for the club. Within that context, considering where we are as a club, it's difficult not to occasionally become frustrated with posters like yourself who work themselves up into a frenzy when everything is going so well. The club has literally never been in as healthy a state as it currently is. Not on the field, not off the field. Not the academy set up. Not he first team. Not the manager. Not the executives. Not the ownership. Nothing was ever better than it currently is.

Don't agree with this, I'm all for us having youngsters, but I believe people believe the drivel about us needing them so much that they believe we should idiotically throw them in during high stake games.

Idiotically throw them in for 5 mins at the end, at 3-1 up, with a team full of midfielders ?

Give over. You really think Delph was thrown on because we needed him ? It wss to give him a runout.

This preciousness about how deadly it would be to 'risk' a kid for a few mibs here & there is a creation of the modern game & never used to be a worry for anybody. Still isn't at the majority of clubs. City & Chelsea are the exception not the rule.
