Discussion: Manuel Pellegrini 2015/16

Pellegrini was brought in to take our team to the next level....to make us an elite team alongside the best in Europe. Two and a half years and a lot of pounds later it is very clear that the team are actually even further away from achieving this target. The way this team is playing....Aston Villa, Stoke, Liverpool, Tottenham etc. is totally unacceptable. There seems to be no cohesion in the team.....it's like they are strangers and it makes you wonder what they are working on in training. I would love to be able to say that we are now a top team but my confidence levels are decreasing week by week. The only game recently where I genuinely felt that my team had played really well was Seville away. I could overlook the mournful face and uninspiring personality if he had turned us into a top European team but, unbelievably, I now feel that we could even get battered by a mid table Premier League team....which saddens me greatly to have to say.

Pellegrini, in my view, has no idea how to and has failed miserably in making City into a great team....PSG, for example, have done so much better with their resources.

It is time for him to go. But we will most probably have to wait until the end of the season for Guardiola....if all the rumours are true. Such is my disappointment in Pellegrini that I might even get someone in now till the end of the season...although that would obviously be a very difficult proposition.

Usual bluemoon over reactions.

Anyone with half a brain could tell that the wind made a mockery of that game today. They had the benefit of playing into the wind giving them more control and we had an injury ravaged side with Silva playing who is still getting full match fitness back.

Still in 4 competitions, still with a very good chance of winning the league and we should sack the manager! What kind of prima Donna fickle fans have we become!!?

You only have to look at mourhino this season to realise that sometimes things go against a manager even ones who have proven their credentials time and time again.

No manager can be judged until the seasons done.
Ah yes the wind.

Another battering which is actually a 'fake result'

Conditions were the same for both teams and Stoke actually played some decent football whereas we were unremittingly shite. A scoreline of 4 or 5-0 would not have flattered Stoke.

Did they, did they really? I saw a very poor game where judging your passes was virtually impossible. I would agree that Stoke adapted better but If that wind was going to favour any team it was better for Stoke. Massive overreaction to the game.

Wake up and smell the coffee , last ten games we have taken 14 points...that's mid table form and not a blip

The players will just about raise themselves enough to secure their short term futures , similar to the last seven games of last season

A new broom needs to be applied , a few fan favourites will be culled...

Well if we want to play attacking football some of our buys are baffling. How does Fernando fit into this ethos. He offers nothing going forward, can't defend and is generally poor all round. We spend half a summer chasing sterling who appears to be the most one footed footballer on the planet, yet he keeps playing him on the left . No youngster seems to get a chance which is staggering considering some of the dross on show lately. And if you want to play attacking football then Bony is the last man you want leading the line. Throw in Garcia, better than Fernando but again not good enough. Jovetic who seems to have played more for inter in 2 months than he managed in all his time at city and there are serious questions to be answered not just by the manager but by the scouts and medical team as well.

Fernando was supposed to be the Busquets, the Alonso, the Matic. The difference is they all have an excellent passing range, but crucially can read the game well enough to be able to play a holding role on their own. Fernando needs 2 more central midfield players to hold his hand, and he will then look like a better player.

Whilst I acknowledge that he's been slightly improved this year, his position in the team is somewhere we have got completely wrong since signing Garcia. For all the shit Barry got, he could play alongside Toure and do the donkey work. So could De Jong. Whilst they also haven't the passing range, they could read the game. It's a position we need to look at in the summer because it's caused us a whole host of problems for 3 years.

I liked Bony at Swansea, but this is Dzeko all over again in that we have a decent striker that basically doesn't fit into the system. There is a lack of confidence there as well and though there is no doubting his quality, I fear the worst.

Why? This Stoke team isn't Pulis's and they play the ball on the floor quite a bit. Blaming the conditions for that performance is a total cop-out.

I repeat: we've scored less goals than Leceister, conceded more than Stoke - and as many as Watford.

Pellegrini is miles away from getting the best out of this squad, in fact he's getting a fraction of what they could/should be capable of out of them.
