We were very poor in that first half, and gave 2 soft goals away out of absolutely nothing.

Against a better than average European team we don't come back to win that game.

BM were the most in form team in Europe and still are afaik. Their only loses in the last 16 games have been us.
I think it is unfair to say they are anything but a top team, not in Barca tier ofc but who is.

As it stands we came out second half and that is for my money to the managers credit. So he can gee the fuckers up, he can do this which is rather annoying.

Agree with a lot of that mate but we lost twice to juve the only top side in our group and were fortunate against mgb away and Sevilla at home. Really pleased we topped the group but to say we deserved it is a little strong.

Don't think it is strong. It's not all about the games we played. In the end others didn't do better, now did they? I am simply basing it on us scoring most goals, more than Juventus on equal points.

It helped that they had nothing to play for and dropped off in the second half. First half he set us up wrong yet again and we paid the price.

They were playing for europa spot you balloon.

"They were tired, had nothing to play for, we got lucky, it had nowt to do with the manager, had it been a decent side we wouldn't have come back blah blah fucking blah"

Well done gaffer.

I heard from the commentary that they hadn't scored in either of the 2 other away games in the group. 10 minutes later, they had played right through us to score twice.

Mangala and Otamendi seemed to be having their own competition to see who could be the most rash and get caught out of position the most, which didn't help.

Put simply, our defending is nowhere near good enough for where we want to be.

Its quite obvious from your last couple of posts on here that fuck all would please you more that to be a "told you so". We have had a great night of European football, rode our luck at times and come out on top. In Europe (and in particularly being in the group of death), that hasn't happened through luck. You are a miserable twat and coming on here after a night like last night just singles you out as being one.

You probably cringe when you ejaculate

Great result and second half performance. I thought our defence remained shaky in the first half albeit against a very useful passing team. We didn't give them a sniff in the second half. Was worried about Manuel's subs at the time as we had a stranglehold on the game but fair play, he got it spot on and I thought Bony did very well. I thought some of the criticism was justified after the results at Stoke and against Liverpool, but that's gone and I was delighted with the team response yesterday. Looking forward to Saturday.

Kind of sums it up for me too

Agreed, the defense is shaky as it gets for a top club tbh but you have to laugh or you would cry :-D

Good win, his subs worked, but still not going to change my mind after one match.

This. I didn't snap from being a supporter of the manager from one bad performance. It was an accumulation of dreadful team performances and bizarre managerial actions and inactions so I'm not going to break out into my Happy Dance just yet. One good half, or quarter does not negate what went before.

His usual 60 min subs paid off, for once. First half performance was still abysmal. Credit to the players for turning it around, for once.

A stopped clock, one swallow etc.

I just hope the penny has finally dropped for both the manager and the team. You have to do more than just turn up with 11 players to win. You have to examine your opposition and the players you have available and plan and work to beat them. As an old City fan I don't mind losing. I'm used to it. It has been the palpable lack of effort and the managerial paralysis that did for me.

We thought the penny had dropped after the Sevilla result but if we can push on and stop making teams like Stoke look like the 1970 Brazil World Cup winners, start putting up a fight from the off and respond tactically in-game to circumstances; then yes, it will have.

BM have more amassed more point in the Bundesliga since their new coach took over than even Bayern. Speaks to where they are. They din't score in 1 of their away games as they were near relegation with the old coach.
