I would agree with you if he was staying next season, but we have seen many times at City, that just changing the manager for a.n. other doesn't often work.

If he's still here & Pep isn't, next season, we are royally fucked, but I just don't see how we can actually get rid of him at this point. We can't reclaim Vieira from NYC, that would destroy everything re them politically, they are the whingiest saddest fucks on the planet & make scousers look alright, Kiddo is a proven failure as a manager.

We are suffering from Pep doing 3 years at Bayern & us planning for him.

We should have binned him in the summer, if pep doesn't come it will be a giant fuck up, we are throwing trophies away with this guardiola thing

Accept what is in front of me? £800 seasoncard, added extras for cup games, never mind away games, sometimes skint because of money coming out for City so can't do other things in life, best quality team in the league even when we have injured stars, playing the worst football since Pearce was here, boring boring slow passing game, appalling defending, I expect a damn sight more for my money so no I won't fucking accept what's in front of me, no.

Worst football since Pearce was here ? The very definition of grow a pair. And if you can't afford it. Don't buy it. Words to live by.

Unless you already knew the corpse was dead, in which case you would be charged with mutilation.

Regardless, I have always tended to think less of Pell (as a manager) than most. I tend to rate managers not on results alone, but something akin to the WAR (Wins Above Replacement) statistic prevalent in baseball. Which is to say, how much better did he do than an absolutely average manager would have done given the same squad and circumstances. If you look at the squads his first year-pre Cesc, Costa, Sanchez- no one should have even run us close. I thought our squad was roughly equivalent tor Chelsea's last year and we lost by double digit points. We spent 150 million this summer and, at almost the mid-point of the season, are behind Leicester and only 3 points in front of a truly dire United team. This is not necessarily to say that he is a bad manager, only that if we had a very good one the results would have been different. He has had the best squad in the league since his arrival (imo dramatically so during 13/14 and 15/16 seasons) so to offer a win-loss record as evidence of his greatness as a manager is simplistic.

Having said that, I see no benefit to sacking Pell mid-season unless missing out on the top 4 remains a genuine possibility well into the new year. If, as widely believed, Arsenal represent our primary competition for the title, we may even win in is spite of him.

So far its fortunate for us that the quality of side and football in general this year has been so poor that we are 3rd.

Lets face it Arsenal are no world beaters and Mou's implosion while not entirely unexpected means the likes of Leicester , C Palace and Watford are already safe before Christmas.

None of the sides expected to dominate have remotely been close to doing so and of all those sides I think we are probably about as far below in level of performance as any of them this season when all things are considered.

MP needs a long holiday and it seems like he is on one come every match day in lieu of.

Sacrificing points for entertainment when you fail to entertain is a recipe for disaster as well as being a pointless exercise.

I fully agree.

I must admit that I was a Pelle 'inner ' for this season as I figured it was ffp which was his problem & that he would develop us this season, with new signings, prior to Pep/Vieira taking over. I now feel I've given him more credit even when I've been on his case, than he deserves. I was still believing in him even this week, with the time he's had to organise the team, that we would look the part tonight, but it's not him who makes the team work imo, it's the players, especially Kompany. We saw how Yaya almost turned it round tonight, suddenly taking over.

The players are better than he manager & he has no authority over them. But we have no other current option. Ifthe players get their shit together, we can still do it.

Edit, I do agree with the Pep thing though. It's worth it.

He shops at B&M so that's alright for me.
And also he ain't going anywhere until the end the season, so get behind the the players, manager, club.
FFS be supporters FFS.

Genuinely believe now that he had very little to do with us winning the league. He lucked into a bunch of talented players on a mission.

Every major test in the last year he has failed. Miserably.

Sadly we're stuck with him.

I can't agree with that tbh. I think he gave us a breath of fresh air. But it's a Kevin Keegan/Harry Reknapp style boost, not a 'great' manager boost. He's run his course & somehow we have to get around that & get our mojo back for this season. It's up to the players to take it on.
