Discussion: Potential Pellegrini Replacements {merged}

Just out of interest how would posters feel if TB and FS turn down the chance to get Klopp, leaving us with MP and then Barcelona drop their drawers at them in the summer and the two of them hot foot it back to the sun leaving us with Pelli or whomever we could then get at the last minute going into the transfer window?

For me it would be a disaster but not impossible to contemplate

I struggle to trust or believe in a guy who comes to work in a baseball cap. He needs to fuck it off or at least upgrade to a blue and white snapback before he comes.

If it is Klopp then we would have to give him more than 12 months before turning on him.

Theres been a lot of murmurings from the press that Abu Dhabi is willing overrule the Spanish impostors (who aren't keen on Ancellotti apparently). What that says about their position (if true) is another question, but I couldn't care less what they want right now.

Yeah, I think the pressure on Txiki is immense. Looking at the UK press, his transfer record is being pulled to shreds by all an sundry, loads of stories have said this is far worse than Mancini's last season, loads more saying our squad suddenly looks very old (his responsibility again), and every single broadsheet has printed an op-ed piece this week saying that waiting for Pep is an absurd strategy.

They would be right to do so as well. I've always thought it a foolish thing to do, to wait for a certain manager. Football doesn't wait around for people. Txiki could go, Pep could change his mind and perhaps we aren't in a position to attract him anymore. I don't like Pep, I don't want him here, he wouldn't want to come anyway so personally I think it's always been a pipe dream. Klopp and City go together perfectly.

Exactly, this ain't a game. You don't just wait for a manager to become available and then hire him. All top clubs will be after him and who knows, he may even extend his contract at Bayern.

Hi Tolm. *waves* You have any of that 3/1 action while it was on?

When I saw him at our game in Barca, something about his manner told me he would either never come, or I'd never connect with him. I hate the idea of copying another club. Hughes tried to copy Chelsea - disaster. To me, despite what he'd done with Inter, Mancini always felt like he was ours, for some reason. Klopp would be the same. He could connect with us - and that disconnection between club and fans has been a theme on these boards for some time.

Only if he wins 2 trophies in those 12 months.

Otherwise he's fair game.
