No it isn't (a stupid question) and of course the owner does (get independent advice).

What you are suggesting is that Begiristain will want to do something, but will instead propose something the Board wants to hear. That doesn't undermine him how?

Sheikh Mansour has a rep for hiring the best and letting them get on with it. He's known for being interested in results. He isn't Mike Ashley trying to undermine his club and people from within. So yes. Stupid question.

On your second point that's not what I said.

As I've said elsewhere, if it goes wrong under the system you're describing, then the accountability for those mistakes won't stop at the exec team, it will go all the way back up to the top.

Accountability is exactly why you have a DoF. Txiki will make recommendations to the board. They'll ratify them (or not) and Txiki rises or falls by those recommendations.

For example on the managerial front. He will draw up a shortlist of candidates which he will present to the board along with who he thinks they should appoint. If the board override him his job is null and void there and then.

Equally he will make recommendations knowing what the board's short term and long term goals and expectations are.

Underneath his jokes, his friendly and emotional appearance, Jürgen Klopp has the reputation of being a bit of a dictator who expects absolute discipline (very German) and absolute obedience from his players. Does anyone think this side of him will cause problems with our team?

It might not have been a coincidence that Klopp had his main success with a team of very young players in Dortmund. It has been suggested down here that one cause of the Dortmund problems this season is that the players are now a bit older and do not obey his every word 100% anymore.

I am thinking that a bit of German discipline will be a good kick in the a..e for some of our players, but I am also a bit concerned that a lot of this will cause conflicts with some senior players.

I think this is valid argument. I read similar points on a Dortmund forum about Klopp molding a group of young players to play his way and it working brilliantly but as the team evolved he was reluctant to change which has led to bad feeling within the dressing room. I don't think we are in a position to give him what he needs to repeat his previous success. We would have to make big changes and I cannot see us having the finances or the time to do it.

And that is why it was wrong. I'll be generous, that is why it wasn't clear enough.

ESPN Brazil: Eugênio Lopez, agent of Alejandro Sabella, is traveling to England to discover City's interest in the former Argentina coach.

São Paulo have officially ended their pursuit of Sabella, who delayed answering them because he believed City could hire him as manager.

Sabella hasn't been linked with the job in the UK press but reports in South America have insisted there is some interest from City.

I'd rather keep Pellegrini tbh for another year if this was the case.

Yikes! But I would have to like it or lump it if the board think Sabella is the right appointment. He must of left the right impression when he quit Al Jazira for the Argentina national side.

He said exactly that also in German, and he meant it exactly as the insult it sounds like. He is an arrogant ....

The guys at the top of the Bayern hierarchy are a contemptible bunch; horrid horrid people.

Fully agree. I also think those comments make it nailed on Pep's not leaving. Don't think that gobshite would be talking so big if he felt there was any risk of Pep going this summer. Which in and of itself makes me happy because I am fuxking sick to the back teeth of hearing about Guardiola and how we are obsessed by him.

I cannot begin to stress how important I think this summer is going to be. The biggest challenge AD have faced since the takeover.

alex ferguson said something similar and we all saw what happened . i would take whatever KHR said with with a pinch of salt . even bayern fans reckon he is arrogant and bit of a cock

Just wish MP shown a bit more Passion...

Like this maybe..

Hopefully Stuart Pearce will become assistant manager too

I agree and it could be because he's worried about losing him. At the same time I hope us sitting around for him doesn't make us lose other potential strong managers.

Is this fucker travelling by steamboat then?

The ESPN exclusive timeline had Sabella's agent coming to England to speak to City on April 9 to discover our 'interest'.

Perhaps use of Skype might have been quicker and a little cheaper, dare say?

Poor Eugene, just sent a distress signal from the Azores.

The next manager needs to represent something beyond just a form of trophy lust. He needs to be a leader for City on the pitch and off it. Someone who readjusts the narrative around our club. It's crystal clear that Klopp is that guy and fits that bill.

Whether or not Txiki, Khaldoon, Sheikh Mansour, and Soriano feel the same only time will tell.
I think Klopp will also have a say in it, a very big one, in fact his previous offerings are that our "model" (whatever that is) is not what he wants, he appears to have said it, those close to him appear to have said it. Personally he'd my choice if we were playing fantasy football, but we're not, we're in the real world.

So that leaves us where ? Ancelloti ? Who might well win the CL, and seems to think he's safe anyway, Pep, going nowhere judging from most accounts, Simeone already signed a longer term deal, and if people want 0-0, or 1-0, or 1-1, great (not). Benitez, please no, not with this squad, Sabella, really ? Koeman or Vieira ?

Going to be lots of disappointed blue mooners in my opinion, when we return in July with MP still in charge, some on this thread might need Samaritan's number.

If that happens then there will be huge questions towards the board as to whether they have both the ability or ambition to take us where we need to go.

It has to be Klopp. He is a perfect fit for us. He would love the chance to stick it to the rags like he did with Dortmund to Bayern. He would be a legend at City. A strong leader and motivator with lots of charisma. We would start to get positive press. His football style, fast and physical, is just what is needed in the Premier League. We have to move heaven and earth to get him. Forget everyone else.

Ok - I think we should get Klopp - that's me

What if MP stays, we have a blistering start in all comps and have a successful season. What then?? MP couldn't have turned shit over night. Would you still question the board? Are we really in the right place to make decisions? We can have opinions. Me personally I trust these execs and will continue to do so.

The pinch Khaldoon mentioned has really turned out to be a punch. We now need to get up and fight back and that's what they are gearing for this summer...

Anyway I'm bored about talking about the manager. Anybody got any transfer goss?

That IMHO would meen Pep the season after, no other reason for one more year
