The point has been made and people are now starting to see that the players have too big a hold on this club. For me it's players that need replacing before we look at the manager. As has been said we've seen two contrasting management styles get the same result post success... there's one constant and that is poor performances by the players.

We make excuses for the team too often, blame tactics etc. Some people even think the reason we are doing poorly is because we can't score from corners... even though our general play is shite and we can't score or create good chances full stop. The fact is the players are much the same as last season, the tactics too... we have added to our squad but declined on the pitch. Pellegrini stuck to his guns last season and we showed brilliant form and won two trophies and progressed in Europe. This season he's done the same but the players just aren't putting in the necessary effort. They're not working as a team or fighting to win games. It's all half-arsed. It's a big summer ahead and I think we'll be in a better position if Pellegrini can work with the team for one more year with a fresher squad. Then we can assess things next season. We will see some passion against Barcelona because that's the trophy the players want. They're not bothered about winning the league again.

Perhaps the players have grown as disillusioned with the managers tactics as we have

Making the same mistakes time and time again will only leave the players questioning the manager

Perhaps they haven't; perhaps they just don't enjoy hard work enough?

I think we've all watched enough of the likes of Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Dzeko and Sergio to assume that if you put them all in one side, then the work rate off the ball isn't going to be there, so id like to think the manager could spot that as well

And lets be honest his signings of Fernando and Bony haven't really upped the work-rate

Anyone who thinks our front five worked hard enough against Burnley on Sat is on crack. By any subjective measure they were a disgrace with the exception of Navas.

Nobody is disputing that. The discussion is centred around why this is happening. They are all lazy? They can't be arsed? The club cat has just died? Kompany has given them all the flu? They've all mysteriously lost form at the same time? In other words, nothing to do with the manager? Really?

Its the final clutch of straws fella, they've backed the wrong horse.

So we're clear - Pellegrini is ABSOLUTELY responsible for both our performance against Burnley and our overall level of performance over the season. That doesn't mean the players are absolved of all responsibility. Just that the ultimate can is carried always by the manager. Although as I said to you earlier I expect big changes on the first team squad in the summer for various reasons including the inconsistency and unreliability of one or two of them.

I'm cringing at the backing the wrong horse comments.

We threw two games against CSKA because of tactics did we. Or we went out of the Fa and League Cups because we were bamboozled by our own tactics or Boro had worked us out?

How can you believe that.

There's always people who try and over-complicate football. Been obvious from the first game that we weren't focussed let alone 100% fit which is another issue. The result was we drifted off the pace and threw away games we should have won easily. Now we know the season is over and we can't get it back

We have to salvage what we can. And then in the Summer there have to be changes in players

I'd bring in Vieira now because I think it will help us secure the top 4 spot, and Pellegrini has not got to grips with this team at all.

Now that's what you call an edit pmsl.

I preferred the original version.
