Re: Ancelotti to City??

Just remember seeing him go up against Mourinho's Inter with Chelsea in the Champions League and getting absolutely schooled.

Also getting di**ed by Benitez in the 2005 Champions League final.

I see him as a Steady Eddy manager, would challenge Chelsea for the title and do ok in the Champions League provided we played against teams that were beneath us, but winning matches on tactical genius alone isn't an ability he possesses.

To be fair, you don't win three CL, three league titles and many more if you're just a "Steady Eddy". He has widely been recognised as one of the finest managers in the world. Don't forget he tactically outmastered Pep in the CL last season

Re: Ancelotti to City??

I give about 1% credibility to this report, but you don't rate Ancelotti? We'd be very lucky indeed to have a manager like that.

Re: Ancelotti to City??

This sounds like the Simeone story to me. We're being used as leverage so Carlo can either get a new deal at Madrid or flush out other clubs interested in him.

Re: Ancelotti to City??

I expect we're having talks with managers or their agents more often than not.

Its surely part of Begiristain's remit to know which managers might be available at any point in time, even if its just in case the current manager is hit by a bus?

I dont believe that the club want to change the manager at the end of the season. But, given the competition for a top 4 place, its not something that can be categorically ruled out. Finish 5th and all bets are off. So the club needs to have a contingency plan.

I expect the club will have had discussions with the agents of Guardiola, Klopp, Simeone, Ancelotti, Rodgers, Uncle Tom Cobley and all. I also expect that Manuel Pellegrini's agent will be having talks with a variety of clubs and national associations, just in case.

I still think its more likely than not that Pellegrini will start next season as our manager.

Re: Ancelotti to City??

My problem with Ancelotti is what did he do at Madrid or Chelsea that we need? Madrid already had a world class frontline and a decent enough defence. We need someone to completely turnaround most of the entire squad not just a manager to give it a boost. At the moment for me we have both a squad and manager that is not really good enough to compete at the very highest level.

Critical run in and destabilising manager talk. I cant believe people still fall for this sh*t.

Why oh why would an Italian journalist have any interest in destabilising City? I'm a believer in an anti-City bias in the English media, but this is just paranoia. Di Marzio is an Italian, the best transfer source in Europe, and reports what he learns from his network of contacts. He was the first to break such news as Fernandinho to City, Jovetic to City, Sinclair to Villa, Maicon to City and Pellegrini in line to replace Mancini. Not always right, just most of the time, and his accuracy rate far surpasses any source in this country.

Perhaps because this journo recognises when there is money to be made?

As for his credentials, I practically live on bluemoon during the transfer window and never heard of this guy before now. I guess its easy for anyone to quote creds to appear knowledgeable and justify your argument when theres no actual way of anyone on here having the time or inclination to check out your 'facts'

Please post links to these breaking transfer stories and this might have more credence and i will eat some semblance of humble pie.

I struggle with blues like you wishing to perpetuate this nonsense.

you have no idea what you're talking about...di marzio is the best in europe when it's come to transfers..you will not find out another out there who is better than him and if he said that we are after Carlo then it's looks like this will be MP last season here

Re: Ancelotti to City??

Yep. I wouldn't trust anything a French, Italian, Spaniard says in business. We are into Euro-politics here, not dealing with salt-of-the-earth English types.

If it's true that we're looking for a new manager after having a sort of title win hangover, then how long will it take before the penny drops and Txiki figures out the players are at fault?
What part of this is absolute horseshit did you not understand
City have been bullshitting a few times in recent times (Mangala transfer fee for example) so I'm taking anything they say with a pinch of salt.
