So the club's just willing to tread water until Pep becomes available?

Even then, there's no guarantee he would come here.

Our club/board is not infallible as some like to pretend.

Fortunately for us the Owners and the board are successful business people and look at the bigger picture rather than short term.

We are in good hands and these guys do not make Knee Jerk reactions.
So this summer we let Pellegrini loose with a blank cheque book to bring in the players he wants to then go for Pep in 2016; assuming he agrees to join.

What if he doesn't want half the new players brought in?

Will the players be brought in with Pep in mind? Is that fair to Pellegrini?

What if Pep says no?

The club may have wanted it to play out that Pellegrini's here for 3 years and then Pep but as we hear all the time on transfers, things change. Not only could Pep go elsewhere, or stay put, or go on holidays again... but you then lose sight of the short term. How we've played well below par this season and according to reports are merely treading water and biding our time on Pep; do you sacrifice another potential trophyless season for someone who may not even agree to be the next manager? Or do we chuck a load of money around in the summer and run the risk of doing the same the next year when a new manager comes in? That would be great "bigger picture" planning...

Successful businessmen can fuck up, they can make mistakes; every football club's owner is a "successful businessman". And by seemingly putting all our eggs in Guardiola's basket, we run the risk of doing that for a second season.

This is a semi respected journalist putting 2+2 and getting 5. Clearly a destabilising move at a critical time in our season tbh its disgusting that some blues, which you're not, are even discussing it.

Do you really think that at this level the manager and players are destabilized by this type of talk? They are professionals. Many many people believe that MP deserves to be sacked for a variety of reasons. Its not like this isn't an issue that MP and the entire club are not aware of. And finally, who the fuck are you to decide whether we are true fans. Stuff your "I am bluer that you" shit up your ass.
Most blues have dismissed these rumours as rubbish. leave the Utd fans to it. If it entertains them then so be it.

Exchanges like this are exactly what they are looking for. Well done. We're in for a whole lot more of this rubbish. Another week of this interminable international week

"Most blues" you want to play the I'm a bigger blue too? I bet my penis is bigger than yours Marvin.

Who is this "they" by the way?

City want Pep.

Pep wont be available for 18 months +

Sacking Pellegrini would mean any decent manager wants a 3 year deal.

Would City risk lots of cash and the chance of missing out on Pep by sacking Pellegrini? No I dont think so.

Also a lot of people whom I trust have been told by the club the Pellegrini isn't getting sacked - I know they havent been 100% truthful in the past but the Pellegrini info was cascaded trough the favoured channels very recently.

Well I'm sold. Nothing beats contacts who lie to you.

Pep won't be available for 18 or 24 or 36 months or this side of fucking never.

I don't have an issue if the board want to stick with Pellers but don't leave him hanging in the wind running down his contract. Every indifferent result and every presser/article and opinion piece will be about how Pellers is finding difficult to motivate the squad given the players know he won't be around next year yada, yada.

And how the hell can we plan squad balance and restructuring without everyone involved being on the same page or having some stake in the process? "Manual. Do you think we should sign Bale?" "Sign who you fucking like I'm out of here in 10 months".

And all season we will be on Pep watch and is he or isn't he or maybe he is going to ManU or back to Barca or maybe on his fucking hols for another 12 months the lazy sod. I'm starting to get sick of Pep and he isn't even close to joining. Pep will go down as the only man who fucked up the management of a club without ever actually being the manager.

Totally agree. The players have to know who will be in charge in 12 months time and that man has to be in situ.

We have 3 choices:-

1 Renew Pellegrini's contract.
2 Promote Viera to Pellegrini's number 2 and announce that he will be taking over as manager the following season.
3 Appoint a new manager this Summer.

I don't think the first two options are viable although Viera could be number 2 under the new guy.
Ancelotti, although he doesn't have the greatest record in winning domestic trophies, appears to be a very good candidate
and an upgrade on Pellegrini. At worse he's a safe pair of hands who could do the job until Pep eventually trucks up (don't hold your breath).

Re: Ancelotti to City??

As somebody previously pointed out, his title winning credentials are second rate; one Scudetto during his time at Milan wasn't good enough, considering he had the strongest squad post-Calciopoli and even spent his last season there coaching in the Europa League because they finished outside of the CL places in his penultimate one.

He has it in him, like a Wenger or Pellegrini, to oversee the odd league victory but ultimately what we want to be looking for is either a ruthless winner ala Simeone or Capello circa 1995, or a master of youth development to lay the foundations of our future success, and he is neither.

I don't get the Ancelotti thing I must admit.

He wouldn't be awful, but he's just someone who has managed at top clubs, without getting the best from them, imo.

Re: Ancelotti to City??

I am not pro or anti, i am rather inert here.

However to hold him to scrutiny just on his performance in Italy is a bit unfair isn't it ?
He was fresh into management in what was still a tactically very tough league.

He has not been amazing but very few have and he has shown a trend for improvement. Yes he has had better teams to work with but we all know very well having the squad does not equate to a title either.

He is as good as any of the other top managers as far as i am concerned but then again Pellegrini imo is right up there.

Pellegrini deserves another season at least. We are not a sacking club.

I hate this thread.

Where have you been since Sheikh Mansour bought the club?
- Hughes sacked after 9 games without a win.
- Mancini sacked for getting us to an FA Cup final (Sacked before we played the final in reality).

Hughes was never appointed by Abu Dhabi. Mancini was sacked for off the field issues rather than footballing results and even then the club gave him every opportunity to sort himself out.

The troll is aware of those facts,he's only here to cause mischief.

My feelings......I would like to replace Pellegrini with a more inspiring and 'energetic' manager who can bring fresh ideas to the team,however......if that candidate isn't available,we stick for now.
