Discussion: Potential Pellegrini Replacements {merged}

If it was a toss up between Klopp and Ancelotti I would go for Klopp, simply because our squad needs re-building and I believe he'd be better at that, whereas Ancelotti would be better with the existing players. So for me, I'd rather reduce our targets next season a little, say 3rd or better and take the pressure a bit off Klopp so he has the confidence to re-build.

I'm not sure if a manager that almost relegated one of the best teams in Europe is the way to go.....

By whom?

Same person who give me spot on info when we got nailed for ffp mate. My cousin works at bbc sport media team and is good mates with a lad in city's media team and statements etc are being prepped and a board meeting of type was held today if tolm or someone could verify? The board are stunned as much as anything as to how bad its got and never thought we would even be close to missing out on top 4.
Can't see that part happening though.

The EDS are right in the thick of their own title race.

This is all rather unedifying, some embarrassing stuff in this thread

I agree it come on mate, we've all had a pretty dire few months (by recent standards I hasten to add) so today's news is bound to get a reaction.

Can you imagine Klopp and LVG going toe to toe in the last few minutes of a tense 2-2 Derby next year?

It'd be nearly as good as when Bob shut Ferguson up that time (and signed his death warrant with certain "city fans" on here).

Let us have today to dream and scheme, we can all go back to normal tomorrow..

After having his best players sold from under him , to comply with FFP.

Hopefully he brings Reus or Gundogan with him.

Whatever happens, with Klopp in charge, our pressers would be watchable again

The timing is very interesting. I think we have been busy in the background while Pellegrini has been sinking the ship and we've made a move for him. Either way it stops the "theres no managers available" excuse for keeping Pellegrini.

Rumors are rarely 100% accurate... that's why they are rumors and not news! We haven't had any official statement from the club saying Pellers is staying so it might still be a possibility. The Brennan article in the MEN could just as likely be based of bullshit lifted from here as some briefing from the club

Jurgen-Klopp-641x327.jpg

He would be a more long term replacement and as others if it's a choice between Ancelotti and him
He has my vote

Klopp excites me.
I just don't want to start dreaming too soon... I've kicked in the teeth already this season, don't want to feel it again if he's not coming.
He's the perfect guy to help whip up atmosphere too. None of your laid back crap.

Agree about the laid back crap.....things need shaking up at the club. He has an amazing up beat personality....the exact opposite of Pellers....and he would breathe new life and excitement to the place. Listening to his interviews alone would be great fun and his antics on the sideline are classic. Best of luck to Manuel P. but we need to be taken out of the hibernation we have suffered over the last few months.

I really hope that there is a chance to get Klopp as manager......and what a great name it is...haha!!.

I hope we are in for Klopp - but I'm sure there will be a few clubs in for him. Don't think he will be short of options. Madrid will be after him but I really do question whether he would fancy the Madrid Galactico option especially as they tend to sack their managers every couple of years.

We need to match his ambition, the big concern is we don't have the right players to implement how he would like us to play.

This year will defo be a merry go round with some big names on the move.

I still think we are holding out for Pep - but I feel he is about to sign his extension

Is the July 1 date for Klopp leaving significant in any way? Seems odd as Dortmund would want their new manager to have maximum time pre season you would think.

So is it dictated by anybody's contract anywhere or accounting periods for pay offs ref ffp?

Who we talking about Madrid or City?

Surely this is the nod we were waiting for that Tolmie said the other day

The Dortmund team of 2013 was the best performance I've ever seen at the etihad

The EDS are there to serve the first team, not the other way around. If the powers that be thought Vieira would improve things with the first team squad, then they should use him for this.

I don't think we'll make a change before the end of the season though.
