Does a little bit doesn't it?

Now I'm not suggesting the MEN turns in to the equivilant of Pravda, but perhaps if the MEN "supported" the club with some positive articles, optimistic pieces, feel good stories or basically anything which demonstrated they were actually behind the club, then the club may recipricate when releasing news. At least the fans (the readership) would appreciate it.

Are you joking?

Seriously not a chance. This paper sold its soul to support the rags decades ago. Wish now I kept some headlines and articles from years ago. It was a sad day in Manchester when the chron went.

Be more impressed if he did the job he is paid for (instead of c/p other peoples work) He is in the city..he should be best pals with the PR people at city..getting inside stories that that are EXCLUSIVE to the MUEN.. then he wont need to get blamed for Printing crap...and if he does its HIS crap so no excuse.. Like has been said Before Peter Garner made a good living reporting on the club failing that city should employ a freelance a few Days a week and just feed them stories..

So when did I c/p someone else's work? That's a ridiculous statement, and I ask you to back it up or retract it
The relationship between MEN and City changed the day the club vamped up the website.
We are still their closest allies in the media - City still advertise with us, and help us out, but they save most exclusive interviews etc for the website.
"City should employ a freelance" - why do that, when they just use their own website?

OK Stueart..your paper c/p it...not you.. But it begs the question ..YOU want to pass the buck onto a guy under so much pressure(your Words) so its your head of sport who needs kicking up the arse.. if they cannot give the people HE employs the information on what can and cannot be used..he needs to find a new job.

-- Tue Jun 11, 2013 5:54 am --

Because it would mean taking responsibility. If they can post something unprofessional like that in the newspaper, they can sure as hell post an apology to go with it. A simple apology on a forum where a lot of match day blues don't read or venture upon doesn't count for much.[/quote

Yes I had noticed that you were one of the original "mard arses" At the end of the day you are trying to justify something that only appears IN that somwhat half a brain you have between them ears.
The original article came from where ??????????????????????????????????
The MEN reported it under what heading ??????????
Shall I update this in fucking Braille for you ????????????????????????????????

Stuart Brennan said it was a blue that wrongly posted the story... so that was you then? I've never seen so much foaming at the mouth to defend a negative story against someone's favored club. Did they sack you, or just give you a brief wag of the finger, some psychotropic drugs, and a link to this thread?

-- Tue Jun 11, 2013 12:11 am --

Why put an apology in the MEN? He was commenting and should be commended on it for being honest. It is not the first time SB has been on here

I'd be more interested in wondering... why post the apology on a fan forum, when you admit to fucking up in the actual press? Apologizing to a relatively small audience in a forum is the easy, ineffective attempt at solving the problem.

The professional solution would be to remove the article, post the proper information (which in this case would be a rebuttal of the Daily Mail hack job) and an apology - or at least an acknowledgment of wrong-doing.

Perhaps Mr. Brennan could put the issue of the "MUEN" moniker to bed, by posting a few instances of his employer reporting slanderous, or patently false and damagingly misleading information about Manchester United. I'd love to see actual evidence from a news outlet.

That's not his job though. Its the job of our own media department.

Which part isn't his or the MEN's job? I don't know if that was sarcasm, but I don't think our media department can control the rag bias in a media outlet...?

It wasn't "slanderous" (when written, it is libellous, "slanderous" is only word of mouth), nor patently false, nor was it damaging, in any way.

And, of course, we try not to publish things that are slanderous etc, about any club

make your mind up SB!
So your saying city could sue you for libel?

if it was not damaging why take it down & say sorry?
(nor was it damaging, in any way )
so your defending the story? saying it was true?(nor patently false)
how can you publish (print) and call it slanderous..its surley libellous (your Words again im no lawyer)
( publish things that are slanderous )

and your in charge of the city football section? tut tut

Well lets have a look. All games this season = 52.
Milner. Starts = 25 = 48%
Lescott " = 23 = 44%
Barry " = 37 = 71%
Surely I don`t have to prove Sinclair ???? ;)
Richards, too many injuries, but I think Bobby would not have used him on a regular basis ahead of Zabs.
OK I hold my hand up ref Barry but the overall picture shows that our previous manager didn`t fully rate Milner or Lescott, but they were certainly good enough as "stand ins".

Where did you get these stats?
And could you include Nasri, Dzeko, Auguero, Tevez, Clichy, Kompany, Silva and Nastasic.

Hard to compare if there arent any players to compare with.

From the last programme of the season,Norwich.
By the way numpty, you should read the thread,we are talking about English players only.

Were they?

haha. Milner and Barry, bench warmers ???

Milner only started 25 games out of a possible 52.Hardly a "regular" don`t you agree, less than 50% !! .If you read my post I did hold my hand up about Barry. All the others didn`t fair well, not even Lescott.
By the way,I am a fan of all said 5 players. However I tend to agree with the originator of the article ref the English lads possibly being left behind in trying to get into the starting eleven.

How many PL and CL games did Milner start?

-- Tue Jun 11, 2013 7:53 am --

Can I just say I was unaware of this article until someone tweeted me about it, and even then I did not read it.
Now I have read it, I agree that it is a nonsense re-hash of a poor Mail story, and does us no credit.
It is clearly marked "Gossip", a tool we use to indicate stories that are in other sections of the press, but reading it, it appears to be the MEN's view, or even my view, which I can assure you, it is not.
I have spoken to the lad who is handling the sports section of the website today, and he has agreed to take the piece down.
In my opinion, this piece should not have been used at all, but when we did, it should have been flagged up as a Mail story.
City do this themselves, in the "What the Papers Say" section of their website, but this was a poor effort.
Apologies

Well played

I initiated this thread and Stuart Brennan has responded on behalf of MEN so thank you for that Stuart.
There has been a lot said on here over the last couple of days and a few people have got a number of things off their chest...............
Let's move on!

lol wasn't that the Oldham "pink"

I think it's great that so many people on BM get so worked up about the crap (percived or actual) that it is written about our club. Their indignation and passion in defending the club is proof of their loyalty and I wouldn't change it - it's what creates the atmosphere at the matches.

We have been the butt of jokes (from our own too) for 40 years and have now moved onto the pantomime villan. During that time little boys have grown up watching the rags win and us struggle - it's only natural that some become supporters - they even grow up and become journalists ( I think it's the case with Chelsea too in the last ten years) - it will take that long for it to change.

AS for Stuart, I think he does more than a fair job in the work/business eviroment I imagine he works in. Any anti City stff seems to be written by journalists (?) who cover the other team (funny - I don't see any Brennan Utd stories in the MEN.)

Stuarts recent pieces have been his opinion on our situation. He's already into Winter/Samuels teritory writing reasoned and proper articles that require thinking and discussion. The rest ? I wouldn't give the time of day too or my £1.40/£1. Maybe it's the Editors fault, I don't know but most is not worth buying. It's all either lies or opinion with the occasional fact. I travel up and down the country and talk to people and their opinion is based on what they have read in the Daily Andrex usually.

I hope Stuart is being confided in by the club a least a bit.
All in mho, of course
