Dispatches/Sunday Times investigation: Russell Brand accused of rape and sexual assault

No, but his defenders are fraiming this as his political views being the reason for these allegations coming out. Rather than just taking them at face value.
Which is what I am saying

All that should be discusssed is the allegations and that he is a sexual predator.

People keep shifting it to a conspiracy against him, with him pre-empting it with the video posted on Friday, well fuck all of that.

Many women have come out and said he sexually assulted them, the mans a **** and now the police neeed to take this seriously and start proper investigations of a criminal nature.

Russell Brand doesn't have political views.

He's a chameleon who would do anything for attention, money and fame, he doesn't have genuine views.

He's just an agent provocateur, with better social skills, charm, instincts than Charles Veitch.

He was a mirror image of the pound shop Enoch Powell, right up until it was more convenient/lucrative for him to adopt a new philosophy.

The bloke once went around gay bars propositioning gay men, and then wanked one off in the toilets.

I can’t fucking stand this guy, talentless mouthy prick but these are serious allegations and as ever, he should be presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

I’m really uncomfortable with the way cases like this are now Mainstream news. Guilty or not, his career and life as he knows it is now over and that can’t ever be right.

Throw the key away if he is found guilty, no issues but these cases should not be out in the open like this.

Sadly I don’t think he’ll be damaged much , vast majority of his followers are Tate loving conspiracists , he’ll carry on his channel. Unless jailed.

Watched the documentary. It was pretty predictably laid out in terms of its broadcast. Started and ended with allegedly serious incidents and was padded out for an hour in-between with mostly fluff.

Does Russell Brand comes across as a nice man after watching that? No. A pretty unscrupulous little **** who used his fame and success to get in the pants of an unfathomable amount of young women. Won't be the first or the last.

I have witnessed similar manipulation from several men of varying ages in my life. That's what some less moral men do. They will push the boundaries of flirtation and unacceptable behaviour until they get their own way. Some women freeze in these encounters or feel obliged to give the man what they want, some of that depends on if they've had a strong father figure at home who has taught them properly about what men are. Most of our breed are scum. Others will be dough eyed clout chasers who would have been desperate to get close to a famous man, that has gone on for centuries and always will.

Every woman mentioned in the documentary had consensual encounters with Brand. I did note one staff member though who mentioned carrying a walky talky and was tasked with collecting Brand from his house alone, he punned about having a quickie of which she declined and didn't enter the house, smart woman. The first and last incidents then allegedly occurred randomly once a relationship of trust had been built up. He will be in cuffs by Monday and these incidents rightly investigated. Both happened in the States though, so surely it will take some collaboration with their respective State police, whereby I'm unsure of how lenient laws are on such matters; especially as the alleged victims had consensual encounters with him, it's a complex country.

The next cat amongst the pigeons will no doubt be the swathes of other apparent victims who now come forward. I do feel his outspoken behaviour on the mainstream media and authorities has had an impact in this. You'd be stupid to comment otherwise. He has clearly done some very nasty things, if some of those things class as unlawful, then throw the book at him.

Watching the doco now, fuck me he does come across as a vile creton in some of those old clips. How is making jokes during a standup about shoving your cock in someones throat and them choking considered 'a funny'?

It’s not but crude/sexual ‘jokes’ have been around forever in stand up- Jimmy Carr, Gervais, Frankie Boyle etc have all pushed the line when it comes to that.

no one has said this that except Brand himself, painting it as a conspiracy to bring him down, also most of those defending him are right wing so an obvious link will be mentioned, no one is using it to politically idologically point score.

The only point being made is that from a long time libertarian stance (he was never left wing in the traditional sense) he suddenly shifted to a an alt right conspiracy theorist way of thinking, this could just be a by-product of the pandemic where many have gone full on NWO paranoia mode or as is suggested was a premeditated, intentional shift 3 years ago as appealing to the cranks on the right meant a narrative of an innocent man fighting a global cabal being censored could be framed if the allegations ever surfaced.

It isn't being used as a stick to beat one ideololgies of anothers virtue, brand has set himself up as a truthseeker and many are just questioning if it was for this situation alone to garner the support he has had from social media gimps and GBnews anchors

Ok, fair enough. As said already, I really don't know enough about his leanings, material or proclamations having never seen any appeal myself. I simply found the poitical division arguements on here and the wider media uncomfortable, still do, but can now appreciate the context a bit more.
