Just a question to our foreign based City fans..

Do you get the hatred we have for the rags?

Obviously you are not as exposed as we are in Manchester/Uk to rags in the flesh..so maybe the rivalry doesn't impact on you as much?

I don't hate them in fact I'm really enjoying the scrap for the title and I'd rather we were scrapping with them than say Chelsea for instance, apart from all of that my son is a United fan and there is no hate there, just a really good rivalry .
does your son live with you and if so what the fuck where you thinking?

I got custody of my son when he was seven and already poisoned by his mam, like another poster on here I'm sure she did it for spite because she doesn't like football full stop, I did try talking to him about city but it was all too late plus United were winning everything so it was a lost cause, he is now 21 and stuck to his guns right through his childhood, he had stick from every other member of the extended family (he is the only red in the entire family) and wouldn't change, to be honest I respect him for sticking to his guns.

Well; I'm ''foreign based'' now (to use the OP's terminology), but I was born in Manchester and spent my first 10 years on Claremont road, about 5 minutes walk from maine Road and the next 9 in Longsight. So, yes; I certainly do understand and ''get'' the hatred. I've hated them all my nearly 50 years, even when they were truly shite under the likes of O'Farrell, McGuinness and Sexton (though those periods have now been airbrushed out of their history).

Ooooh, the season they went down - they were 24ct crap! Far worse than us when we descended the trapdoor.

Oh yes we do. I remember January 2006. I was watching the derby at cafe being only blue inside so I made a bet with one of the rags. If they win I will pay the cost of new rag kit (believe me for economic standard in my country those days it was almost my complete salary) but if we win I could do whatever I want with the original R.V.N. shirt this rag was wearing.

So we we're 2 up, and then Ronaldo gets a red if I remember correctly. I can't describe you the despair on rag face, then a bit of hope when R.V.N scored for 2:1, and then we got third at the end of game. Priceless.

To sum it all up, I asked for a shirt, got outside the cafe, tore the shirt apart and piss on it. He was then threatening me for a month, trying to make me pay for the shirt. We never fight each other but we never spoke again.

By the way that was the time when everyone were on the rag bandwagon.

Amazing for a club that won the European cup six years earlier. They fell apart when Busby retired. Here's hoping history repeats itself!

I'd say were I live there are less blues then just about anything else. Finding a blue is next to impossible and just wearing something with MCFC on it here is very provoking in their eyes and could start trouble a late friday or saturday.

I feel like a lone soldier (one blue friend) against a whole army. But I do kind of love it!

Since the rags, scum and arse have won everything for quite some time those are the teams that people follow here and have done the last 20-30 years. They all want to be the winners and it hurts them deep now that City is on the up and their beloved ones keeps slipping into the darkness of the abyss. The jelousy is oozing and they know the tide has turned.

I'm a plastic blue myself. Never had an English team for real until the appointment of the coach that won my childhood team, IFK Göteborg, the UEFA Cup in 83. He did that with amatures working day jobs against pros. Yes that is Svennis of course.

Then bluemoon, the passion of the fans, the lovely banter and the history got me hooked for real! Seriously... I've missed maybe 10-15 games totally since then, in my armchair of course, and read bluemoon several times a day, every day. MCFC is highly addictive.

So yes, even as a relatively new Swedish plastic I feel what you feel. Not as strong as a born blue, that would be a bit strange and unhealthy if I did wouldn't it!

I'd say around 70% of socc... football fans around here that follow a premier league team are rags, with the arse, Chelski and Everton making up the rest. They're arrogant, obnoxious and smell. They know next to nothing of their own history, nor could they name half the players on their own team. I'd be suprised if they could find Manchester on a map.

Maybe we hate them for the same reasons, maybe we hate them for different reasons; point is we hate them.

Blue moooonnnn....

Some City fans are surprisingly tolerant. The so-called City fan Stuart Hall, in his sports column in the current Radio Times, picks his best England team for the upcoming game. He includes FIVE United players (Smalling, Jones, Scholes, Rooney, Young) and just Joe Hart from us. Even has Walker ahead of Micah, who's not even mentioned as a sub. I know this thread is about dislike, but surely he's looking through red-tinted spectacles? Or does he really know as much as he thinks?????

Yep..as a well known city fan you have to be impartial so like him goes over the top and picks 1 city player! That's the difference between a city fan and a scum supporter a scum supporter would pick that team as well and doesn't give a toss of impartialality FACT
