Do you care about being considered a 'big' team?

Couldn't give a shit if Utd or Liverpool have more 'fans' than us, why does it fucking matter?
Give me another title, means so much more than millions of fans from Surrey, Norway, Thailand or fucking China

I find myself having to mock the whole concept of Big Club when the subject is raised.

My response tends to be along the lines of "When do the Big Club awards get handed out?, Does your team have a parade?, Is there an end of season ceremony?, It all sounds quite lavish and we really, yes, really, envy not being part of it all as it sounds wondrous"

Proper football fans love their club for a whole load of, mostly irrational, reasons; they don't give a toss how big, little or whatever it is. Irrespective of the team it is used against, as an insult it says more about the person chucking it than it does anything else.

All across social media, rags, dips, tarquins and the odd villa, spurs etc supporter will call us a small team and say we'll never be as big as united/their team/in general no matter what we do.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have and probably will never care about being a 'big' team. I've seen what being a 'big' team means. It mean being like the red shirt cartel.

We have solid local support, and that's something I appreciate the most about us. Salt of the earth Mancunians, and even surrounding areas that have been going for years and supporting us at rock bottom. Supporters of those teams say they've been there for the downs, but their downs are finishing midtable, ours were Division 2 and the fabled York City result. They don't get it, and never will.

But what are your thoughts?
Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Since 1987 I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly.

We’ve been unspeakably shit, positively mediocre and the absolute dog’s bollocks.

City are just City. Leave the dick measuring to the sad weirdos on social media.

City are a big club, and always have been. I would place us 4th, and not that far behind Arsenal in 3rd. Spurs, Villa, Everton, and Newcastle just behind us. It is what it is.
