What are they grumbling about? The blind, infirm, disabled, mentally ill can fuck off and leave the railways to those passengers that aren’t a nuisance. Economics innit?

Well, if you go to Paddington ticket office and ask for a ticket to Plymouth I doubt they'd tell you about the longer journey from Waterloo unless you asked if there are any cheaper routes. They'd probably tell you it's £40 cheaper on the 11 o'clock train.

I wouldn't use Trainline though. Trainsplit.com or one of the other independents.

Trainline have pretty much sewn up the mobile ticket market thanks to another snide deal with the DFT.

They are rip off merchants who flog cheap tickets but neglect to tell passengers they can only be used on certain trains.

For example, I had an elderly yesterday. Split ticket for Nottingham to March.

Nottingham to March. The Notts to Peterborough portion was an advance booked for my train. Her next portion was another advance ticket with a three hour wait there.

I endorsed the 2nd part of her ticket with the line "Trainline again!" So she could use it on the next service.

Now Patel too

Merriman "said he'd been given reassurances that staff hours wouldn't be cut". Either he's gullible, a liar, or really didn't read the consultation papers.

As he's a Tory minister, it could be all three.

NEC have prioritised the reballot over calling further dates.

Myself and other activists are working are arses off to get the turnout and result past the new Anti TU threshold laws.

Should it carry we will be the first ones to "test" minimum service levels and the other Tory bullshit that comes with it.

Still waiting for the government to announce their minimum service requirements before we can name dates.

As an aside rail fares are going up 8.2% next March, which will no doubt be blamed on unions going on strike.
Has the 8.2% figure actually been confirmed?

I thought the issue was still uncertain, as while the government has said that the July RPI inflation rate wouldn’t be used for the increase, they hadn’t confirmed what the rise would be or whether they would base it on the July average earnings data.

Not been confirmed officially. This came from a TOC director.
