Does Anyone actually rate Kolarov??

Kolarov has played a lot of minutes under Pellegrini. Maybe like with Dzeko he is willing to give him a chance. Whatever people say about his defending, his offensive contributions should not be overlooked. Always provides the width, and almost always threatens with his crosses/shots.

From the games I have seen it looks like he is more fired up than last season. Not surprising maybe, he wants to try and impress the new manager, much like Dzeko I guess. Hopefully Pellegrini instills some urgency into his defending - and hopefully he never makes a back pass like THAT one a couple of weeks ago.
I hope the South Stand give him a chance too. Last season finished poorly for him. looked like he was losing confidence in his own game and too quick to respond to grumbles in the crowd. I thought that was very poor on his behalf, but I like him as a player when he's on his game

I can't understand how some people claim that Kolarov is lazy.

Defensively he is slack, and lazy to get into his position. You watch how he busts a gut to get into a position for a cross or a shot. It's almost like two different people running. In terms of amount run, he might be up there with the most KM run a game in the City team but when it comes to his defending it's far away from that.

He is good enough but for some reason a section of our fans have to have someone as a scape goat. Seems some people miss a good moan now were good

Criticizing him is one thing.

Being a scapegoat is another.

Wish people could realize that.

Who has a better back up left back outside of Real Madrid?

Gets caught out positionally far more than any of our fullbacks but will be useful against against teams that park the bus as Clichy is inept offensively.

Why do we need to sell him?

bang on the button.

I definitely see this as a fair point, however, what if, due to injury/suspension etc., we are forced to play Kolarov against an offensively strong team? What then (personally I think he will stay this season as it is pretty hard to find a LB as good as him that will be willing to play second fiddle to Clichy)?

We suck it up like all teams do when they have an injury.

A very fair point.

I personally do still think Kolarov has a part to play in our team especially against the lesser opposition though I do wish that we had a LB more similar to either Zabs or Micah who are both great at attacking and defending unlike our more one dimensional LBs.

Do we suck it up and continue to play Garcia at CB or look for another CB?

I mean, if Kolarov is allowed to have variables attached to his playing time surely against the lesser teams who aren't great at going forward we can stick Javi in there?

Aleks gets caught out of position too much and as he's a defender that's not very good. No one doubts he's somewhat of an asset going forward but a player shouldn't need to have to be granted variables with regards to when he plays not at this level

I'd think lesser teams are more inclined to think "lets bomb down the right" when Aleks is playing rather than cower at the thought of his first time, barely beats the first man, crosses

We suck it up and splash the dosh on two players for every position...
