Does the offside rule need changing?

They also said VAR would ruin the experience in the pub afterwards. I can vouch that last evening was definitely not ruined .This morning however was a little belligerent.

There's no problem with the offside rule, they just need to accept that VAR isn't infallible and give advantage to the attacking team in the case where the video replay is too tight to call. Imagine if that Walker run yesterday had been a close offside call. What would the distance travelled have been between one frame and the next at the speed he was running? Certainly enough to affect an offside decision that is apparently going down to millimetres.

The selection of the point at which the offside decision is made is critical This should be when the passer first touches the ball. Not 4 frames later as they did for the disallowed goal.

Pretty simple, both feet behind or in line with last defender -end of discussion. This nonsense about having a finger or half a nose in front is bollocks.

I just think they need to add a buffer in the var for offside. Start with say 6 inches. And as the technology improves reduce it down gradually to near zero.

Of course not - after one game all of a sudden we want a rule change? Beyond daft. VAR has to develop over the season for starters but tell you what lets change offside before match day 2 then what happens if VAR is judged a failure and axed at the end of the season? Change it again?
