Does Yaya still have a role?

Not anymore in this style of play.My opinion is that he and his agent gave us 2 options.....
1.We pay the rest of his contract off and he say thanks for the memories.
2.He sees the contract out and gets a nice signing on fee next summer signing on elsewhere.

I don't think too many are having a go at him. The question is, does he still have a role?

As someone posted a few pages back, it's highly unlikely he'll be named in the CL squad. One senior player needs leaving out.

Not sure how the PL squad works, I think Sane & Iheanacho's sees him in the PL squad.

Will YaYa's ego take the CL omission and continue to be happy or would he be more use in a key game than a Navas or Fernando?

For a tournament with a max 13 games I think he'd be possibly a better gamble than Navas who offers nothing that Sane & Sterling don't.

Don't see a role for him anymore tbh but hopefully he doesn't start sulking and causing a problem behind the scenes

definitely still think there's a role for him, he's still a superb player. He could be excellent in coming into games to retain possession and see the game out. I don't however think Pep see's a role for him. We'll probably see him in the cup games and nothing more bar a lot of injuries and he'll be off the China in January imo.

wow, another thread where we all get to slag off past city players and winners.

He isnt right for the team now, in the past though we WOULD NOT have won anything without him in the team. City fans should remember that.

Sorry but just am seeing way to many negative City fans who come out of the corners having a go at players who Pep doesnt choose or like.

Am totally confused as to why he is staying though.... I hope he gets a chaance to have a last farewell game at least.
Totally agree just can't figure out why he's still around. It looks like he will be left out of the CL squad and is unlikely to get any further than a place at the end of the bench in league games. To say it is a total waste of money is a classic understatement. Perhaps if he can keep himself fit and there is a rash of injuries and suspensions he might get a few games and if this does transpire lets hope a little bit of magic remains.

The best things about watching us under Pep so far have been the intensity of the pressing all over the pitch and the tempo that we are playing the game when in possession. IMO Yaya doesn't have the athleticism to press effectively (even now it is well organised and players aren't having to run as far to press) and while his passing is good, his natural game always seems to generally slow down the tempo of our play. For all his strengths, I just don't think he will suit how we are playing now and we will lose much more than we will gain by having him on the pitch. He's still capable of the odd bit of magic so maybe he still has a role as an impact sub when we are desperate but other than that, I just don't see it.

Still got Gundogan and Sane to come in. On the other hand nasri gone. He needs to work hard to improve his fitness still further so that he can play a part if called upon.

He must have worked hard over the Summer to get his weight down. Needs to keep working. This maybe his final season so I hope he can get himself to a level when he can be effective.

I was on twitter before and come across that clip of him in Madrid last year, it is shocking the massive lack of effort he put into that performance. He should of been fined. For me he doesn't have a place unless he can prove to work hard off the ball.

It's the price have have to pay for our change as a club since the takeover. The new owners wanted credibiliity fast, and paid to get it. We weren't getting the likes of Yaya otherwise. Now, it's a different matter and we're restructuring how we do contracts to reflect that, but are left with the legacy of that time.

But we had some great years with Yaya and are grateful for that...

good post and seconded

I been here and reading and even moaning about him. But this is a that is now a goodbye topic, like Joe Hart. And the nonsense I am reading........ bad apple, taking the piss for two seasons, have no respect for him, hatred for him. It's not the way to say goodbye to our players, that is how we treat pplayers who have won us things?

Minority of people but I do wonder why they are city fans if they have much dislike of our key players
He literally slandered the club and you want to thank him. Find some self respect.

IMHO yes, what though don't know. On his arrival at the club he was a collosus, unfortunately like everyone he has got older. I want to remember the positives rather than how he is now. A couple of trademark goals which win us crucial games will be worth it and give me memories to treasure. Pep knows what he is doing and I will leave it to him.

We should have moved him on when the birthday cake bollocks started ... Think we'd have had plenty of interest then .... Stuck with him now, he'll pick up his loyalty bonus from us next summer and still get a lucrative contract in China ....
As he deserves.

Is a fotmob app good or bad?

I can only see Yaya starting the odd game at either pivot or CB (depending on injuries) myself, I kept expecting some late breaking news before the window shut. January could be interesting if he's played little by then.

Fotmob is generally very good. I can see him coming on late in games we are needing a late goal or to hang on.
