I still don’t understand America, seems very angry at something. A bit like the UK has been.
Is it the rhetoric or the reality that gets people frothing?
Americans seem to think they have some divine right to “bigger and better.” If they don’t get it, or someone else has it and they don’t, they want to find the fall guy.
Trump and his minions made “government” the fall guy…to the point of people at rallies holding up “Keep Govt out of my Medicare!” which might be cool if Medicare wasn’t the GOVT Medical Program for seniors, paid for by tax dollars!!! It boggles the mind.
Then, as if by magic, they made Democrats the people who broke Govt, and thus the Country, by creating this thing they call “The Swamp.” It’s where people who work in Govt, and do nothing, reside, and Trump is going to drain it!
In 4 yrs, he increased the Govt debt by more than any other President in history (by a wiiiiide margin!) then blamed “Sleepy Joe” for ruining his (Trump’s) economy, which was a mixture of smoke, mirrors and a $4T (T for TRILLION) tax break for the wealthy and corporations!
After he did it, he told his uneducated poor white trash base that he had done it for them, because the Govt was wasting too many tax dollars, then LITERALLY went to Mar-A-Lago, walked out in front of the assembled millionaires and billionaires giving him a standing O, and told them they should be applauding him as he just gave them the biggest tax break of their lives and saved the people in that room millions of dollars.
He is a con man. A grifter. He figured out how politics makes you rich and is milking it to the hilt.
At this Convention, it’s normal for the spouse of the Nominee to give a speech. Melania is AWOL!!! The woman who knows him intimately appears to be in hiding and not interested in his bullshit any more after the Stormy Daniels affair and 34 felony counts.
However, in a complete break from history, and in true Dictator style, he is having his two sons and their two trout pout, woman-slut-whore partners, give keynote speeches. One of them, Lara Trump, is the new head of the RNC, which determines how party coffers are emptied and what the Party does and does not do and who they fund and do not fund. NON-MAGAts need not apply!!!
The previous head was Mitt Romney’s daughter, who Trump told to lose the “Romney” from her hyphenated married name. She did, illustrating his complete power over the RNC, then had her fired in favor of his daughter-in-law!!

Now, he has a HUUUUUGE BRIGHT WHITE BANDAGE, which is only missing the “I got shot right here!” arrow missing from it, over his right ear, as if to highlight what a strong and brave man he is for standing up with the help of the Secret Service after getting hit in his ear.
So, to circle back to the question of what are Americans angry at, it boils down to two things:
MAGAs want to know why the Govt and Dems suck so much that crime is rampant (it is actually down), immigrations are up massively (it’s asylum seekers that are up, not actual immigrants), and Biden is trying to get Trump killed with his divisive rhetoric (which could be the best gaslighting attempt in the history of the world!)?
The Normal People want to know how the MAGAts can’t see their Emperor is not only butt naked, but he is a pathological liar who can’t seem to help himself, because unfettered, unchallenged, self-aggrandizement has been his calling card for the last 60 yrs, since his racist, slum lord father taught him the tax dodges that helped make him rich!
He hates Americans, but loves the idea of American strength, especially if he can project it onto himself. He lives a flush life because he has been living on almost $1Bn of tax losses from his real estate dealings, most of it other people’s money that HE gets to write off as the developer who went bust!
His tax returns showed he was using an almost $1Bn tax loss to shield any and all income from taxes, while pretending he was the model American.
