Dropping out of the top 4 - potential repercussions?

We've got relegation form right now and clearly that's a massive worry.

Worst season since the takeover.

It's interesting because for me me it definitely feels as if this season is worse than Mancini's last season and that was a shocking season and one that I didn't feel could be topped.

I think we could see the players had just fallen out of love and just didn't get on with Mancini 2 years ago, this season it's mostly because of shocking tactical decisions, poor motivation and recently a sense that the players have started to question Pelegrini's management decisions.

The frustration this season comes from knowing we haven't leant from our mistakes from that final Mancini season, maybe that's why it feels worse.

I think we're all essentially agreeing but in different language.

We all seem to think that the squad is pretty good, but not enough to challenge the best in Europe meaning that ny CL victory would require a big run of the green and some standout individual performances.

We all seem to agree that it's not really rational to go out and spend lots in one window in an attempt to cut off our arm, instead a more surgical incision over many windows is a better option.

I think I differ in terms of that I'd prefer to keep the manager than change him this coming summer, as this season feels like a series of misadventures rather than a gross lack of talent from Pellegrini, but outside of that we agree.

You'd be surprised how often people have very similar opinions on here but can't seem to find the right language that makes them understand it. We've had 50 page threads of people who seem to think they're disagreeing but all actually agreeing just using different terms and words!

Ha, yeah that's true. My concern, though, is that keeping Pellegrini when it seems highly unlikely that his contract will be extended could increase the lethargy we've seen recently. Obviously it's not directly comparable, but there are worrying precedents there, notably Ferguson in 2001/02.

That's the call the club has to make and I think it already has.

Also we see the same faces talk a big talk only to go missing often against inferior opposition but nevertheless an opposition prepared to work harder and show a desire for the ball and the contest that supercedes our.

No doubt many of our current squad know there time is up if not over this summer then the next and to some extent they have pulled up stumps.

2 titles domestically is good enough for them to take with them to their next point of call.

Interestingly perhaps only Tevez and perhaps Boetang have gone to clubs that would you know are rated higher than us in Europe and would all things being equal have little difficulty beating us over two legs if both were at their best and performed to a high standard..

Of the current crop of players that we would definitely be looking to off load in the summer if the offer was right I doubt any of them will go to a top ranked European Club or if they do they won't be a regular starter for that club.

So it appears the players are no longer behind Pelllegrini this is the same bunch of players who did the same to Manchini

The problem clearly isn't the manager it is some or all of our heroes clearly our faith in them is misplaced

We as a club do have quite a big problem we seem to have a bunch of multi millionaires who only play when they want to and consequently show a massive disrespect to the Club, the manager (whoever that is) and most of all us the fans.

I'm sure Khaldoon will have something to say over this
They will not be happy down in AD
After this dreadful season I think it's safe to say "knee jerk" can finally be consigned to the trashcan

Agree they don't appear motivated but please don't excuse the manager from being ultimately to blame.
You know - he's paid to get them ticking - and don't forget the tactics, substitutions, selections!!
We hired a softly softly Manager and initially the change worked - but time for a more robust approach.

Nail on the head, motivation is what is lacking and that is down to one man and that is the manager

look how frustrated us as fans are with the manager i bet the players are too . He has lost them if your winning games then he has the upperhand but our bad form which has been most of this season the players have lost faith in his style n he hasnt got a clue how to get them back . Edins smile n smirk n shake of the head is very tellin comin off . Alot of the players are probably feelin the same imagine if sergio had done that i wonder what this place would be like right now

We are worse this season. In 2013\2014 we looked quite comfortable in 2nd place. Now we are in real danger and have been for 2 months of being caught by several teams - Arsenal, Liverpool, Utd , Spurs and ourselves are in a scrap for the positions 2-4 in the league. Arsenal are better than us, Chelsea will win the league and we are looking\hoping for Utd, Liverpool and Spurs to drop points..

We have Palace, Utd and Spurs away which we could lose (all 3)

Forget team selection, tactics, 100s of millions spent on a group of players that create nothing and lose away to Burnley, who will still most probably be relegated along with QPR + another.

Early days for Bony, but poor so far - not another £ 25 million down the toilet surely ?.

Who is buying players for us and how do they choose, do they blindfold themselves and stick a pin in a list of players names ?

Mangala, Sagna, Caballero, - terrible buys
Jovetic, Kolarov, Navas - flatter to deceive buys

Add to that the in and out form of Dzeko over his 4 years and also Nasri, the fact we scored a PR own goal over Lampard and then never use him and the dips in form this season of Zabaleta and Kompany and the almost who cares attitude of Toure and there is not much left to cheer about for the club this season.

I think the game v WBA is more important now than Barcelona as even if we beat Barca could anyone see us going on to win the Champions League. ?

We need to finish top 3 (Even 4th would mean a nervy Champions League qualification and yet more excuses of players playing to much and being tired), and have a good summer actually improving our team.

Doomsday scenario Utd finish top 4 , we finish outside the top 4 and Aguero says he want to leave.

Well at least our campest thread, New Kit 2015/16 will get less prominence when up against:-
Exodus!
How to Replace Sergio
Play the Kids in the Europa League
Good luck and thanks David Silva
