Dropping out of the top 4 - potential repercussions?

In the event that we were to drop out of the Champions League it would be a setback but not a catastrophe providing we get back into it quickly.

For me, the greater shame would be that FFP would have achieved the purpose for which it was created albeit, to some extent, aided and abetted by a number of factors of our own making and that would be greeted with great glee in certain quarters.

I don't subscribe to the players "aren't arsed" or that Pelligrini "is tactically inept", I think a catastrophic lack of form in key players at the same time is making it look that way. The question is whether they can rediscover some form between now and the end of the season. We'll see soon enough.

Not qualifying for the CL would be an absolute disaster for us.

losing aguero for starters, not getting the best players on the planet and income it would be catastrophic to our club!

Aguero isn't going to leave because we failed to qualify for the CL for a single season. We aren't getting the best players on the planet whether or not we are in the CL. Income wise seems to be the only thing.

Certainly not a disaster or a catastrophe as some seem to be making out. A temporary inconvenience perhaps.

I have to agree at the end of the day and it would refocus the club on doing the things it did well to get 4 consecutive seasons in Chumps League.

Often in fact almost always no matter the club you have to take a step back before you move forward again.

Our owners ain't going anywhere any time soon I would suggest.

I think we need 75 points to finish 3rd or 4th which means 17 in the next 9 games. If we can't get 5 wins and a couple of draws from our remaining fixtures then there needs to be a big rethink about the clubs football philosophy and a change of personnel in the upper management.

Frankly Pellegrini is proving to be everything I thought he was when we signed him but his CV looks great now on the back of a season where the team wasn't always playing the way he wanted them to. He's now stamped his mark on the team and the performances and results reflect that.

Wouldn't be surprised if he leaves, if we don't finish top 4 the likes of madrid/bayern will be all over him and he'd definitely want to win trophies there, including the chumps league

Well its exactly not the right time to drop put of CL as from 15-16 season the prize money is a bit bigger for English teams asBT deal starts now if I am right.

We got between 20-30m per year for CL so far even if we hardly did anything great yet in it, it could be 35-40 from now on even for a performance like we get out of group stage. Which is pretty basic for a rich club all over Europe. Not mentioning even your league position decide about a few millions of the market share pool, it does matter you get into it on 4th place or 1st place from previous league season.

Chelsea finished 6th in 2011/12, a mere few seasons ago (6th! imagine) , they seem to be pootling along ok.

(ok, admittedly they squirmed into the champs league again but still)
