Dropping out of the top 4 - potential repercussions?

losing aguero for starters, not getting the best players on the planet and income it would be catastrophic to our club!

Aguero isn't going to leave because we failed to qualify for the CL for a single season. We aren't getting the best players on the planet whether or not we are in the CL. Income wise seems to be the only thing.

Certainly not a disaster or a catastrophe as some seem to be making out. A temporary inconvenience perhaps.

Seriously though, you're not Peter Mandelson are you, cos that is some serious spin?!

We aren't the rags, the dippers or the Arse, able to trade on a global name afforded them by 20 years in the closed shop that is the Chimps League, or historical success in the 70's and 80's. If we finish outside the top 4, it will be 10 times as hard for us to get back in as it would for any of those bastards. We only got in last time courtesy of Benitez, Hicks & Gillette fucking things up at Liverpool, and by spending huge sums and huge wages to lure in Ya Ya, Tevez et al. The time to attract the best players to City is now, whilst we still have an upward trajectory in terms of image, and whilst Ya Ya, Spanish Dave and Kun are still on the books. How will we attract them without Chimps League football, with a pay structure based on bonuses, and at a time when every domestic competitor is suddenly flush with cash?
If we miss out on the Chimps League spots, and based on the directionless way in which we're currently playing and being managed, I'd say that was a very real possibility, then I reckon disaster's a far more appropriate word than inconvenience.
Plus, once we're out of legitimate contention, I wouldn't put anything past those c**ts at UEFA in terms of restructuring the competition in such a way as to cement the places of the old guard at our expense even further......

Every season since we've got into the top 4 we've had threads on here panicking about us falling in a heap and missing out.

We're not playing well, but I can't help but feel we've been here before.

I'll be surprised if we finish anything other than 2nd.

You normally talk much sense - I really hope you're right again.

You need to 3 top qualify for the Champions League, 4th only gets you a raffle ticket.

I would settle for 5th if it means we qualify for the Champions League .

The trouble is that both Liverpool and Arsenal are playing much better than we are. They're getting better as we are going backwards. And United are still riding their luck. I think we'll finish Top 4 but dont feel at all confident about 2nd.

We WILL qualify for the CL and finish 2nd.
Why?, Because we are going to roll our sleeves up in the last 9 games and play like champions. Even if it means ultimately surrendering our crown to Chelsea.

A good summer and a hungry and reinvigorated squad will make us to champions again in 2016.
Enough of the negativity.

What makes you think we'll do that in the last 9 games? A few days ago we were told we'd do that in the last 10 games. Well that started well!!

The players have given up on the manager and the season. Our only saving grace which will mean we'll probably scrape into the top 4 is that Liverpool and Rags have got some tricky games including against each other so will drop points

And before then Spurs were playing much better than us. Or Arsenal. Form goes through peaks and troughs, ours is currently in the shitter but we'll pull ourselves out of it as we have always done.

Arsenal and Liverpool will have a downturn before the season is out.
