Dublin and the ROI

Are Malahide and Portmarnock not North of the river? I have Aunties who live there and it was not a dark place where I went. Feck off houses and golf courses with beautiful beaches are what I remember. Not been back to that area for over twenty years though.
Mahahide, Portmarnock, Howth, Sutton around to Clontarf. All the coastal north side of Dublin.
Big houses, big money.
Malahide, Howth both great gastro and upmarket pubs and cafe towns.

First time we went was 30+ years ago. It was still the Punt as currency and every single institution loved the pound as it was converted 1to1 even though there was a slight difference. All in their favour of course .

Went to a little village called Ashbourne which has now been swallowed up by the metropolis .

Got great Guinness wherever we went, even once meeting the rep in a country pub on the way from the airport who insisted on getting us 3 or 4 rounds .
We used to be ushered to the front of the queues in pubs and clubs as they loved the fact that we came over to Dublin . ( Bear in mind, there were no cheap flights then . All £250 + on Aer LinGus )
Went back numerous times but we could never recreate that first adventure.

Just so many great memories .

Worked in Belfast too just after the Good Friday Agreement which was also epic .

Ashbourne is more like a satellite town. It has really grown but is actually over the border in Co. Meath.
People commute to Dublin from there because house prices would be cheaper.

Just looks like a broken wind turbine.
It’s a syringe….
Which was a big disappointment when commissioned.

We had a tradition of naming our monuments and statues things like, Molly Malone would be, The tart with the cart.
The Anna Livia statue is The hooer (whore) in the sewer.

What rhymes with Syringe?
Minge?
Cringe?
We were quite limited.
