Dullest Football Since Pearce?

Yes we had an Achilles heel but we won a lot more games because we had attacking players in midfield who could create and were top scorers. Whilst we continue to play with Rodri and Gundi together we will never get to the levels of previous years. They are not bad players but it means the opposition can focus on KDB
last year we lost 9 games, after the leicester game pep had to do something, it had to change or we would of continued losing games in the same way, teams knew how to combat the way we played , and we had to change, rodri and gundogan are fine, however against the lesser teams i would drop one of rodri or gundogan replace them with kev and have foden/bernado as the further forward midfielder

We can't win , we score for fun but our defence is crap ,we sort our defence and score a few less goals and our front players are crap , we might not be consistent enough to win the title this year but i think our newly found defensive solidity in one - off cup games will be a massive plus.
Seems to me Pep is putting all his eggs into the Champions' League basket by building a system based on solid defense whilst still creating up top. It's not Pep's fault Sterling couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo or that Aguero has missed all the season so far. We are still creating enough chances per game to win matches comfortably. It may not be as free-flowing or as pretty on the eye as previous seasons but Pep knows what he's doing. When Fernandinho lifts the European Cup into the Istanbul night sky it will be down to Pep and the new hard-to-beat double pivot system.

We play controlled inventive football with moments of breathtaking skill against unambitious bus parking opponents nearly every week. So no. No other team has to face teams trying to just spoil the game. It was working for our opponents, e.g. Lyon or Leicester, so Pep changed things to make us harder to break on. We create 2 or 3 nailed on chances every game. Being more ruthless in front of goal would open them up as they would have to abandon the negative approach and maybe we will get the space to play the beautiful football we are fully capable of.

That’s true, good post.

But it says a great deal about our recruitment where we’ve got to a position where we’ve got the best attacking coach in world football [history] yet we’ve bought a load of players who don’t suit that style of play, are too slow, give the ball away too much, or simply aren’t good enough. And the misjudged faith we had in players still here after leaders have been leaving or coming to the end, as these other players just haven’t stepped up and become important enough from minute-to-minute and second-to-second in the entire game outside providing the odd assist or a goal.

anyone that compares this season to the pierce season obviously didn't attend that season,
either that or they're lurking rags
Yep. Like many on here, I've supported City long enough to say with absolute confidence that whatever happens in the remainder of this season, it won't even be a consideration in my "Worst ever 10 seasons watching City".

Definitely not the most boring, but i have to be honest they leave me a bit cold at the moment.

Our most exciting players are either not firing or not playing.

I miss the likes of Kompany, Silva and Zabba too. Would love to see a couple of guys with a bit more fire in them.

To be fair, the lack of fans doesn't help.

Thia ia the way we can win the champions league, pep desperately wants it and so does the club. I think its still a possibility that we could win the league but deep down i am sure the club would give the league a miss if we were to win the corrupt cup,my thoughts anyway

I disagree last year our defence was horrendous, Pep started playing two holding midfielders and we lost games. Now with Dias we look more solid like previous seasons so no need for two holding players.

A thug as a player. Appalling communicator. On what basis would any idiot ever compare Pep with Pearce?

Can't believe this thread is still up, dullest football since Pearce?

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

Embarrassing.

This thread should be re-named “Most spoiled fans since the rags!”

Not the OP's finest hour, it has to be said.

If he wants the thread deleting, all he has to do is ask.
