Dynamic ticket pricing coming to football

Can’t remember who it was against, but a few seasons ago they slashed the prices first game back when testing the digital season tickets. It was bouncing.
That was the day they trialled the paper cups with plastic coating....tasted like you were drinking molten metal, an appalling experience. 3 weeks later, Plastic cups were back

Fuck the thunderbird looking cunts who made this normal
"Made this normal", where have you been for the last 30 years. Every time we have got further in the chumps league it has cost more. F.A Cup quarters, semi's and the Final all cost more. You still only get 90 minutes. The thunderbirds have at least caused it to be curtailed in the future. It would have carried on spiralling without this happening last Saturday.

having an airport means fuck all, im that case next time hibs get in europe they can charge whatever .

Are villa expecting thousands of international fans? even we don't

corporate sales won't be filling the holt end
'Are villa expecting thousands of international fans? even we don't'

City's pricing (see Inter) indicates they do.
And as regards airports - I have been seated next to people from outside Europe for numerous matches over the last few year. It is not just people coming from Ireland or Norway.

Shame we can't have dynamic pricing for beer. Come early for games and it's 50p for a pint of Asahi. Would certainly get the atmosphere going!
Spoons do this. Some days a pint is cheaper than others.

Dynamic pricing is a good idea if your stadium doesn't sell out and you don't have many season ticket holders. You don't need a computer to work it out either Just charge £1 for each row you sit further back.

It would work well in the lower leagues, allowing clubs to capitalise on big home cup matches, without harming the regular fan, with or without a season ticket. Provided they can buy them first.

---------

For a club like City, we now have tens of millions of fans.

I know plenty of people who have bought Match Day Cards, then can't get tickets. I know people at the start of the season who were 40,000 - 60,000 in the queue to try to buy Premier League tickets and didn't get any. They're already paying £70-£80 a ticket for seats that cost season ticket holders £40-£50. This simply isn't fair on these fans.

The reality is City have far too many season ticket holders. They get all the prime Premier League matches and many spurn the crap (by comparison) Cup games.

So all you can do is increase prices, increase the capacity or cut the number of sesson ticket holders to alleviate the pressure on tickets.

Fewer season ticket holders would mean more tickets available for Premier League games. Recently the numbers have gone down from 42k to 38k. So the club are doing what they can.

This is also why the Inter game is so expensive.

They've got to find the sweet spot of the price of the ticket where they can only just fill the stadium.

Dynamic pricing would fix part of this problem.

For years we had the idiocy of the cheapest tickets being down the side in the lower tier, which were the prime seats. Albeit a legacy of the Kipppax, it was absurd. Everyone whinged when the price of these seats in the East stand were harmonised with the Colin Bell. They're the same standard!!!

By all means keep cheap(er) seats for the loyal fan, but it is unrealistic to expect these to remain prime seats as well. They will probably end up in the gods behind each goal.

City like our rivals play preseason friendlies around the globe where tickets cost £100-£200. So the demand is collosal.

As a club, success breeds success and success breeds demand and prices will go up. There is no easy way of addressing this issue.

Dynamic pricing can help but isn't a magic bullet either.
There is a suspicion that City will gradually reduce the number of season tickets. The dippers have done this and have relatively few season tickets.

It amazes me how people who have paid such a lot to attend these matches, end up doing the following.
  • Arrive after kick-off
  • Go to the bar 5 minutes before normal half-time
  • Get back 10 minutes into the second half
  • Leave with 10 minutes of normal time still to be played
They barely watch an hour of the game!

The scousers season tickets amount to less than half of the stadium capacity at 44%. We on the other hand have the highest percentage of season ticket holders at 74%.

I’ve noticed a fair few of the day-trippers turn up dead late to games, leave just before half time and then you don’t see them again.

One lad against Brighton at home last season was one of these. Came in about ten minutes late so had already missed the Álvarez goal, sat next to me and was typing away on his phone as soon as he sat down and was still doing so when Haaland made it 2-0 about ten minutes later, to which he didn’t even get up and was pulling his face face because two of us either side of him were jumping up and down celebrating, gave each other a hug over him and he tried to push us apart… I shouted at him ‘what the fuck are you here for?’.
He still didn’t look up from his phone for the last twenty odd minutes of the first half. And then he didn’t come back for the second half.

What’s the fucking point?

The Ipswich game was a cracker, this couple came in twenty minutes into the game, arms full of food and drink, couldn’t find their seats, wandering up and down the aisle… they’d missed four goals by the time they’d sat down.
Then left on about 80 minutes and missed the last goal.

How do you manage to miss all five goals in a 4-1 win?

These people have probably paid about £300 each for their tickets from the tout sites n’all.
