Dynamo Kiev - Post Match Thread

I hope you do irony Billy because that reads exactly like a post from a "Mancini-inner" in 12/13...

I don't recall us being in the Q/F of the CL in 12/13, but I do take your point. We finished bottom of our group that season unless i'm mistaken. The PL will always be the priority for me as a supporter, but the CL isn't far behind. We have a fantastic opportunity with the teams left in the competition and the season will take on a different complexion were we to make it past the Q/F as well.

It just speaks to a wider malaise, and whether the club like it or not, they have played their part by announcing Pep and not immediately putting Pellegrini on display in City squad so people can pelt him with rocks and rotten fruit. It's open season on him, and so it must be very difficult for those people who hate him and really don't care at all about the rest of this season because of him, to bring themselves to enjoy anything. Oh I'm sure they'll say "i'll be there cheering if we get to the final" but really, lets be honest, you can see by the nature of the negativity that it runs deep and it won't go away until the manager's gone and Pep's got his feet under the table.

Yes there is a much wider picture with many aspects but these threads tend to get narrowed by the narrow minded. If Pep doesn't get off to a flying start, some will carry on with the negative stuff aimed at him and the media and them will be indistinguishable.

The grating thing is people are actually calling last night a 'professional job'. It was woefully bad and every bit as poor as the Norwich performance. Probably worse because on another day, we could have conceded a goal or two last night from ridiculous sloppiness. It wasn't 'professional' in the slightest. It was just poor and it's mad that people are actually claiming that we are so good we just decided to turn up and choose professionalism over winning the game.

It could have been a chance to build some momentum for Sunday by righting the wrongs of last weeks performance by putting on a good display, or it could have been been used as an excuse to rest the injury prone players in our squad who have played 6 games in 20 days. In the end it was neither, and given the injuries sustained, it turned out to be a bit of a disaster.

Honestly it felt like a very professional performance to me. In many respects the injuries could've derailed the whole match but we still managed to keep a clean sheet and get through the tie. Then again I didn't think Norwich was particularly bad either as a performance. IMO we've played far worse this season and won games.

Instead of offering sound bites like "threads get narrowed by the narrow minded" tell us your own opinion or at least argue the point to those who weren't made up about last night (not the end result - there's a difference) show.
Alls you've done is call people a funny shade of blue and suggest we all watch from our armchairs. Ironically, your mate who you agree with is the biggest armchair supporter on here.

The problem is that our performances are starting to look far too much like those of the rags earlier in the season - lots of possession and hardly any worthwhile efforts on goal. We have to sort that out to finish in the top 4, let alone make more progress in the CL.

This is my issue with Billy. I do totally respect him as a poster but I don't understand his lack of tolerance/understanding at times for people who are only feeling exactly the same way now that he did about Mancini. I know he has had some kind of "epiphany" where he has decided it isn't worth being too negative about any manager ever again, and I'm really pleased for him about that but others haven't had that epiphany and for some, shit managers still get right on our fucking tits. IMO he really should have a total understanding of where people who are feeling completely and utterly at the end of their tether over Pellegrini are coming from and frankly in my view should be sympathetic to their position even if he doesn't agree as opposed to what we get which is usually at best patronising and at worst insulting/mocking.

I was there mate, my toes were still cold this morning.
I'm not sure there's one City fan who isn't made up we're in the draw for the QF - not one.
What there is though, are match going (and armchair) supporters who take in a performance and then come on a City forum to air their views - wherever they're right or wrong. You don't have to jump on every negative post, most aren't doing it because they hate City but because they love them.

Fairy nuff. I came back from the match to read a shower of negativity a lot of it time stamped just after the match finished. The trouble is the rag fans (including those in the media) read this pages and they revel in the negativity and will do so every day until Sunday. If those rags say that there are more moaners on here than were at the ground last night it is not easy to disagree.

We have played worse and won, i agree there (or we have in patches of a game) but i do think we are in trouble (or would be if Pep wasn't arriving) if we think the level of Norwich and last night is acceptable and professional.

This begs the question, who gives the first shit what a load of united fans think about what they read on a City forum?
