Really? May be a couple of seasons ago but not any more in my opinion
As for Edin, not many strikers ever get the tag of "World Class" it's a hard position to play in because the judgement is always how many goals never any other aspect of their game, Torres in his prime was one of the few
I do believe Rooney is world class. I think he's a fantastic player. He's an absolute twunt, but that doesn't cloud my judgement on his abilities. People say he's not done it at International level, that may be true, but i think later rounds of CL football are as good as Int level and he's done it there (apart from the final in Rome where he was poor, but played well in three other finals). Messi hasn't really done owt at Int level yet, i actually think he's half the player than he is when Iniesta and Xavi are with him, but Messi is constantly touted as one of the greatest ever [already].
In recent years Eto'o, Torres, Drogba, Shearer, the real Ronaldo, Shevcenko have been the world class strikers of our time. I think if Rooney contnues to play as well as he has so far in his career, then he will also be on that list for me (and other players think he's that good too http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011 ... -shortlist).
Other players being talked of in this thread: Giggs has never been world class, no chance! Scholes was. Scholes could have played for any team in the world including the Galacticos and Barca, he was
that good.
When judging Rag players you really have to take your City fan head off and look at it objectively because the amount of times i've heard over the years and read on here, mostly this season, "United are shit" and "xxxx(player) is shit"; it just shows that people look at them as a rival and therefore in our rivalry-detest we just come out with these comments. When the reality is over the years they've not been shit and most of their players haven't been shit.
Of course it's all down to interpretation. "world class" doesn't actually exist. It's a made up thing and could be anything from the best two or three players in the world, to the best player in each position in the world, to the best 3 players in each position in the world. It's all down to the individual to what he thinks.
