Dzeko looked like Samaras yesterday

Whilst I toally disagree with Kiams opinion on Dzeko - I think he's top drawer - it sums up everything wrong with this forum that he's being abused for it.

Those "Fuck off", "Rag" and "Bellend" type posts meake those who post them look like schoolkids. Disagree with his point, don't just bark like you've got Tourettes.

Very rare i agree with you DD but 100% spot on here mate, footie is all about opinions and they are all interesting. The way some Cyber Bullies (and fellow Blues FFS!!) gang up on people who have opinions different to theirs is incredible and somewhat cringeworthy................IMO of course

Good post, don't let fact that he actually played well, or wellish, the commentator constantly commented positively on his first touch get in the way of your agenda.
He looked better against Wolves and Villa to a lesser extent, but it was his 1st FA cup game, the pitch and the in your face style of play will all be new to him.
I'm personally happy to give him at least 4 games before I call him the next Samaras.

In 1976, no-one died. In 1977, no-one died. In 1978, no-one died. In 1979, no-one died. In 1980, some one died. In 1981, no-one died. In 1982, there was the incident with the pigeon. In 1983, no-one died. In 1984, no-one died. In 1985, no-one died … I mean, I could go on.

I agree with Kiam in reglation to Dzeko's first touch yesterday, but he's never played on a pitch as poor as that one, so we'll let that slide for now and address it later.

He isn't exactly useless but when he doesn't have much service he doesn't tend to make big chances for himself like Tevez can. He looked like he wasn't going to be able to fully get into the game until Silva came on. He was much better at dealing with short passes into his feet from Silva and Yaya than he was at trying to control 40 yard passes from Vieira or Barry. But on a good pitch like ours Dzeko comfortably strolls with the ball at his feet.

And as easy as it looked; full marks for the goal. He lost his marker and more than made himself available for Richards' cross. It was a wild finish, admittedly, but he caught it well on the volley, and to keep your composure when you're under that much pressure shows he's got a cool head when he's out there. It's going to be the first of many important goals that he'll bag for us. The sooner we can sign two proper wingers, the sooner we'll see him scoring headers week in-week out.

After 3 games, he's scored 1 and assisted 1. Good start.

I'm with you. He's not a leader [yet]. But he does his job well.

What happened yesterday was the absence of Kompany + De Jong + Tevez at the same time.

No leader. No spirit. Mancini should realize the importence of them three. He can't lead the team on the pitch. He must trust someone else.

If only Jo were De Jong.

I commented yesterday that he reminded me of a corradi/bianchi type of player. Completly one dimensional and will prove to be a bigger flop that robinho was in his time here.
He lacks pace, a poor first touch and his general awareness is average.

As stated in a previous comment the bosnian peter crouch

he is nothing like samaras, total better player all-round, did not do to bad in the game for me

Dzeko got an opportunity in the box and smashed it in.

From memory it was the only real opportunity like that in the game, thanks to Micah having the nous to turn them around to face their own goal and put in a useful cross. Edin did the rest.

He wasn’t bought for Messi type runs, or Iniesta type midfield guile, or Kolorov type howitzters, he was bought as a “fox in the box”. It’s why we bought him, it’s what we want him to do, and when given the opportunity, he fulfilled his side of the deal.

Job well done IMO.

We had 20 mins to go and were losing to Notts County, we didnt look like scoring and Bobby swaps the left backs...????

Why didnt he bring on Tevez or Nigel? Surley when your 1 nil down in a knock comp like that you would bring on your big guns??? Very odd tactics
