Guidetti is a more complete player than Dzeko. Clinical finishing, smooth first touch, etc.

Dzeko today just completely tanked my opinion of him.

Lol....wouldn't go that far.
Honestly, I would. Guidetti can create on his own and his finishing is spot on.

Re: Dzeko

If you want Dzeko playing well every game for us it won't happen.

He needs to be playing every week, he cannot be out for 2 and then come back for 1 and expect to play well. He is one of those who needs to play into form.

If that is the case, then he won't have much of a future here.

Re: Dzeko

I'm not going to defend Dzeko's performance today. It was poor just like the rest of the team.

I am, however, extremely disappointed with the disrespect he gets for not being superman. When teams park the bus it is difficult for anyone to score or create chances. None of the other players did much better against West Brom either.

The point I will make is that Dzeko to mee is already a proven player having followed him since he first joined Wolfsburg. He does seem to go hot and cold but I don't doubt his class or skill. He's not a player who will dribble his way through a defense like today, that player does not exist.

I believe he has lost a lot of confidence and probably due to the system he plays in as well as the fan reaction to his every touch. He was always known as a clinical finisher before he joined City. He showed flashes of his prior self earlier this seasons as well when he scored in first 5 games and was in top form, but the Bayern game seems to have taken it out of him.

Some say that this shouldn't matter. I honestly think he would flourish in a system like Spurs or United where the crosses and ball delivery comes through channels early and quickly rather than passing to death and slowing it down all the time.

Anyway, we should get behind all the players and support them if we want to win the League.

Re: Dzeko

I cant be fucked reading all of this thread as ive had a bad enough day as it is but im guessing the 'he just needs good service' excuse has been trotted out quite a bit.

How many chances did he have today and in the past few games?

You could tell that mancini had asked the team to whip the ball in today and it made no difference.

I love the lad and hope he comes good for us but i do wonder about his form (and a lot of the team!) recently.

Actually no. Vast majority agree Dzeko was wank to new levels today. A few defended him though.

Re: Dzeko

Our style don't help Dzeko's style. Dzeko's style don't help our style.

But if I would ask anyone about this that would be Mancini and the scout team. He (they) thought it is OK to spend 27 m pounds on a striker who need a lot of good crosses not only from corners, who needs a partner to get used to play together and not rotated every third match even if he is good form. Or start once in 8 matches and wait he will be great.

He was very shit today but the problems are deeper than his skills or form. He is skilled and in form is a goal machine in the right system.

Mancini's system is much more better for Agüero, Balotelli (Lavezzi or even Bellamy) type attackers.
Actually it is the best for Ibry-type attackers.

Blaming Dzeko like he is useless twat is a joke. Feel it even harsh on Torres who scored like 2 goals at all for 50 m pounds. Who played series of matches maybe started more matches in Chelsea than Dzeko here in one year.

We should stop blaming our players so disrespectfully. This team had Samaras, Bianchi, Corradi for years and now we are so big to say to Dzeko he is the worst striker ever?

What would Messi get here after a few weak matches? Don't be ridiculous.

Re: Dzeko

I agree that Dzeko had a bad game today, no one can defend that really.

However, I can't believe how fickle people are when discussing our own players, every performer has an important role to play in this seasons progression.
The guy has put in some sterling performances this season, such as at the start which really kicked us on and showed us the player he can be, and even when not playing great has also stuck a few in the net too.

I shout at the screen, grumble at players and hate losing too, but I think people are way to quick to jump on the bandwagon and put everything on one player. Yes Dzeko doesn't always have the perfect touch, AJ runs down too many blocked avenues and players such as Aguero and Silva aren't performing to their usual standard. But! At the end of the day I'm a City fan first and foremost, and I will always support our players as well as Mancini. To say he isn't good enough for us is ridiculous, Kompany hasn't been great this season so does that equally mean we should replace him too?

I'm not trying to irritate anyone but I honestly wish people would not be so pessimistic and have faith in the lads, not to say we shouldn't whinge but threads like this go beyond moaning and incur uncalled for bullshit
