Re: Dzeko
That's a well argued post with a lot of sense in it. He's done best, as I said, where he's had time and space. But the one thing that no one could have really legislated for was how he (or the team as a whole) could perform against teams that get 10 men behind the ball constantly.BosnianDiamond said:I'm not going to defend Dzeko's performance today. It was poor just like the rest of the team.
I am, however, extremely disappointed with the disrespect he gets for not being superman. When teams park the bus it is difficult for anyone to score or create chances. None of the other players did much better against West Brom either.
The point I will make is that Dzeko to mee is already a proven player having followed him since he first joined Wolfsburg. He does seem to go hot and cold but I don't doubt his class or skill. He's not a player who will dribble his way through a defense like today, that player does not exist.
I believe he has lost a lot of confidence and probably due to the system he plays in as well as the fan reaction to his every touch. He was always known as a clinical finisher before he joined City. He showed flashes of his prior self earlier this seasons as well when he scored in first 5 games and was in top form, but the Bayern game seems to have taken it out of him.
Some say that this shouldn't matter. I honestly think he would flourish in a system like Spurs or United where the crosses and ball delivery comes through channels early and quickly rather than passing to death and slowing it down all the time.
Anyway, we should get behind all the players and support them if we want to win the League.
