Dzeko to win Player of the Season?

Yaya deserves it - just watched the Palace game highlights again - he was superb that day.

I voted for Yaya but judging from the number of comments on the site for each player Dzeko will win it in a landslide unfortunately.***

Not saying he didn't turn up and score important goals but Yaya not being POTY for City would be a travesty. He will almost certainly kick up a fuss about it too and (for once) he'll have every right

***At the time of voting Dzeko had 700+ comments, Yaya had 240+, Silva 180+ and Zaba 140+ IIRC

This is precisely why I started the thread. It's just ridiculous every time Dzeko is nominated for Player of the Month he wins it by 5 votes to one.

There was one month after we'd just signed him where you could vote for any player and he won it by a landslide and he'd been absolutely atrocious. The club got on to it and started making a shortlist each month so Dzeko didn't win it every time.

Putting him in the POTS vote just leaves it vulnerable to being hijacked by the knicker wetting obsessives. It should be a straight race between Yaya and Silva, Dzeko wasn't even in the team before xmas!

But if it wasn't for Edin's post Christmas form we would have been screwed.

Seriously, Edin is under appreciated by some people on here. If it would have been Kun who went on a run like Dzeko did at the end of the season people would have been calling for the stadium to be named after him.

What the season shown is that Kun is a world class player, Dzeko will come up trumps when needed and Negredo is a form player. But yet some numpties want Dzeko sold to bring in Wilfried Bony.

As for the POTS it's got to be Yaya hands down. He was the most consistant all season. Followed by Silva then Dzeko on the basis that he came good at the crucial time and when the pressure was on.

Dzeko was hugely influential in us winning the league. But then so was Tevez in 2012, but he didn't really deserve POTS that season as he spent most of it playing golf!

It's player of the season, not player of the last 4 months. Yaya 100%.

Are you seriously comparing Tevez's contribution in our 2012 title winning season to Dzeko's this season?

Tevez came back for a few matches had a couple of good games but never really outperformed Kun or even Mario for that matter.

Edin has been out best striker for half a season and without his goals we may have even finished 4th.

Fcukin annoying when they want access to this, that and the other just to register a vote.

Bollox to that. They were all shit anyway. Time we got some decent players in.

We wouldn't have won the league without Tevez in 2012 and we wouldn't have won the league without Dzeko in 2014. Neither deserved POTS though.

That's a valid point but you could say the same about Lescott this season or even Pantillimon. Those would have been far more comparable to Tevez's contribution from 2012 than Dzeko's this season.

Dzeko is easily in our top 5 players of the season just for the importance of his goals. After Kun he is our best striker.

Dzeko's contribution in the last few months was vital and he deserves his place on the shortlist. Without his decisive goals we probably wouldn't have won the league. BUT...without Yaya's 20 (count 'em) goals from midfield over the course of the season we might not have made top four. Yes, the guy has been a prize prick recently, but that shouldn't detract from the massive part he played in our title win. Player - and **** if you like - of the season.
