Stop getting in a fucking tizz over nowt.

There is a virus in bloody Africa that will kill some people there, we are not in danger, this is not a Hollywood film and the UK are well prepared.

If you wanna shit yourselves up watch Fox or Sky news and wait for the second plague.

26 beds
That's what the NHS has ready
26 beds

1 ward!

Worry not. The measures in place at Heathrow will keep it out. Temperature check and a questionnaire...

Ive read on the WHO site and others that the infection can spread with contact of contaminated surfaces but I cant find anywhere that says how long the virus can stay live on a "surface" anyone know this?

anyone?

Interesting reading this thread to note how much peoples' perceptions of threat are shaped by the media. I intend to panic buy at an early stage, before the TV tells me not to.

It can live for ages in soil and grass, saw them on TV digging it up and carting it away from around someones house who had died in Guinea, not sure about your average kitchen/houselold/hospital surfaces

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned there could be 10,000 new cases of ebola per week within two months.

Health officials said that 8,914 cases of ebola have now been reported in West Africa, including 4,447 deaths.

WHO assistant director general Bruce Aylward told a press conference in Geneva that the total was expected to top 9,000 by the end of this week.

He warned that the death rate from the current outbreak has now risen to 70%. It was previously estimated at about 50%.

WHO?

Fucking cockney whinging fucks. I ain't mithered one bit.

Another U.S health worker from Texas confirmed with Ebola...Makes you wonder if getting dressed up as a spaceman doesn't protect you maybe they should opt for shorts/t-shirt and flip flops instead

yet there are still "experts" trying to convince us that it isn't particularly contagious and that we will be ok if we all wash our hands regularly.

My niece is married to a pilot who flies a private jet for a wealthy Nigerian who deals in oil and pipelines. I was talking to her last night and she said that when passengers are coming through the terminal and being checked they are using one of those wooden lollipop like sticks when they look into your mouth but the frightening thing is they then use the same stick for the next passenger and the next and so on. Also if you want to bring anything into Nigeria then as long as you cross the right palm with the right stuff then everyone turns a blind eye and you can take anything in.

I dont believe that they would use the same stick for everyone. No one is that stupid, surely?

The mathematics of the Ebola outbreak reveal near-impossibility of global containment: it's already too late according to some.

Current analysis shows that Ebola infects 1.5 - 2.0 new people for every new infection, and the cycle time on this is less than 30 days. This means that the number of people infected with Ebola is growing by roughly 150% - 200% every month.

If you nearly double something every month, it doesn't take long for it to explode out of control. Imagine having a bank account that started in January with just £1,000 and magically doubled every month. In February, you'd have £2,000; in March you'd have £4,000 and so on. By December, you would have over £2 million sitting in the bank.

Ebola spreads in much the same way: exponentially. It isn't a simple linear increase; it's an exponential explosion that can grow from a small number of isolated patients to a global pandemic seemingly overnight.
