Well this contrary view is in the Express... sigh. The last line sounds like it was written on Ragcafe.

MANCHESTER UNITED are favourites to win the £30million scramble for Lille’s exciting Belgium international Eden Hazard.

United, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been given permission to talk to the 21-year-old forward after he plays for his country against England on Saturday.

He is expected to stay in the country after the Wembley friendly to decide which Premier League club to join.

Although United are likely to offer lower wages than City and Chelsea, sources close to the player suggest Hazard is being enticed by United’s history and standing in the game.

As much as we don't like it,it is fair comment,if your were a footballer and you were offered to play in Serie A during its peak years in the 90's,your two choices were AC Milan or Parma, who would you sign for? If their league positions were similar but Parma offered you slightly more money, would it be they that you chose,or would you choose AC Milan,a team with multiple titles and European cup successes.

Different situation as Parma had no long term plan whereas we obviously do and will stay a force.

I am sure they planned on being at the top end of Italian and European football for some time,i don't think their owners at the time invested the amount of money they did for short term success only.

It was pre internet so overseas football wasn't as global as it is now, having said that we in the UK would get serie a on our TVs every sunday and players like Gianfranco Zola who played for Parma did have the x-factor.

They were backed by a company that collapsed causing them to go into administration. Their ground holds 25,000.

I'd like to think we are a different proposition. Making history with a club going places can also counteract history. Ask Silva and Nasri!

I am not saying we don't have a better potential future than Parma of the time did,but we shouldn't just discount the pulling power of global brands like United when they are still a successful club on the pitch and off it.

How much do the rags plan to spend? Supposing the three main rumours come true...

Hazard - £32million
Kagawa - £15million
Baines - £12million

That's about £60million and they haven't even bought what they really need there, a proper midfielder, someone who can go up against Yaya. They were looking at Asamoah from Udinese but he too would cost over £10million. They're also rumoured to have had a £15million bid for Lewandowski rejected and he's a striker! It could be unprecedented spending by them (and none of this "net profit" they go on about) to try and keep up with us.

I'm not I just think if he goes there it will be because he thinks he will bea star there but might not get in our team rather than the name man united.

Also don't underestimate the pulling power of the name Mancini. We don't appreciate how famous he is abroad and bacon will be gone soon.
