For that night in the champs league against Klopps lot, has to be Joe he was great that night. Talk about getting a larupping and Joe stood tall. One wink from Mario and we escaped with a 1-1 draw, Joes' finest hour IMHO.

Peak Hart shits all over Ederson in terms of ‘saves’.
Imo Ederson is pretty average when using that criteria.
However, he is exceptional as a ‘keeper sweeper’ and with his distribution. 2 things Hart was average at.
Ederson ‘fits’ this team, and Pep’s style much, much better.
But if I needed a goalkeeper to ‘save’ something it’d be peak Hart every time.

Joe was immense back in the day and before most keepers reach their peak. He hit a bit of a downward spiral a few years back and his limitations are now there for all to see. Joe is completely overrated IMO, most of the views on his contributions are led by sentiment.
He ended up having almost as many shocking performances were he cost us as he did games where he was a stand out player.

Hart was a great shot stopper and just what we needed at that time, though although Ederson has some minor flaws, Hart had a couple of major ones. His main one that irritated me was his seemingly inability to parry the ball around the post. Countless times he'd make a brilliant save but the result was the ball ricocheting back into the goal area and many times we were punished.
The question of ball skills is a no brainier and it's easy to see why Pep has such great faith in Ederson. He was a fabulous acquisition for me.
In conclusion Hart was great and what we needed back then but Ederson is a definite step up.

Emerson’s shot stopping ability and one on one performance is better this season. With the ball at feet he’s the best in the world.
Hart’s purple patch was short lived, and he went off the boil, and became very weak down to his left, eg West Ham at home amongst others. Which is surprising because normally keepers train on and improve with age.
Just now Hart edges it, but by the end of the decade on Ederson’s current trajectory it’ll be him...

Joe did really well for us and was a crucial figure in our renaissance.
Eddie is the best fit for us now and moving forward. Whoever scouted him deserves to be knighted.

For me:
command of the box was weak
Catching was non existent
Flapping / wafting, I'll grant you
Distribution - appalling
Ball skills at his feet - none
I’ll take this with a whopping pinch of salt, coming from someone who sang Bravo’s praises a year after everyone with eyesight gave up.

The best shot stopper City have ever had in my opinion was Tony Coton, he was incredible and was very unlucky not to play for England. Ederson is the best all round keeper we have ever had. When Pep leaves I believe Ederson will be the first player he will attempt to sign for his new club as he is so important to the style he plays.
