Usually of the opinion he's a great finisher and wank at everything else. Today his hold up play was superb. Hope it's something he's worked in and is here to stay. Well done Edin
People forget the important role he has in defence too - cleared a couple of balls away really well
Up front he has added another dimension- there is new pace and wherever it came from I hope it continues .

Bringing Sergio on obviously turned out well in the end, and I understand Pellegrini wanting to get him some minutes before next weekend, but I was a bit concerned at the time to be losing the defensive cover Edin provides. At the time, Newky were starting to look dangerous and Edin's often a valuable contributor in defence.

SSN keep showing his iced foot - they almost seem to be hoping he's done his metatarsal
It's on a loop mate - it's like groundhog day

Re: Edin Dzeko

Outstanding today, I'm certain he's got a bit more pace over the summer. That backheel was exquisite too.

Remember the Bosnian poster at the start of the Pellegrini reign that was saying he was ruining his career or something along the lines? He's getting the best football out of Edin for ages.

It is okay, he has nine more.
He's a hard ****, he'll be fine. What's a bruised foot when you grew up with bombs dropping round your head?

They wern`t bombs. That was Kolarov shooting.
Fixed. At least Stephen (sic) kept the UN medics sharp.

Re: Edin Dzeko

I thought he was great today. Spoke to a few Newcastle lads after the game & they were full of praise for Dzeko.

Re: Edin Dzeko

He copy-pasted his opening league game performance from last year vs Newcastle.

Was announced MOTM last year and had all except goal in that game. Pretty much same as today though he looks as sharp as ever since he came to City.

And pace.. he always had pace if there is space to run into. Not technically great to do it from standing point and with ball glued to his legs but send that ball in the pace and if he feels like running :P not many will out-pace him. But with City playing possession football and him often having a back to the goal, only in odd occasion he had a chance to show that since he came to England.

Re: Edin Dzeko

His back heel to Silva was fantastic.

If it was Robinho most people would have been in awe.

Dzeko is quality, scores critical goals & is good for the team/squad.

Well done Dzeko.

I think his efforts on goal today were better than last year's game. I say that as someone that praised his match last year. Great today and commanding. :)

When Micah Richards' penalty lands (not expected until 2026), it will be the end of the world.

Re: Edin Dzeko

Great performance, lead the line well and dropped into midfield to offer support.

Beautiful assist for the goal, as was the run to receive the pass. In his last 4 games against Newcastle he has 4 assists and 2 goals, he loves playing against them as much as he does United it seems.

Good signs of things to come this season.

Nah I think he's definitely been working on it, twice in the last 2 games he's exhibited pace that I've not seen him use in 3 and a half years.
