How come no one is questioning Tevez and Aguero, they did not score more (or much more) than Dzeko this season ?

Because they fucking try. I think Tevez is a dickhead but you can't ever question the effort he puts in, he's had loads of assists as well as being top scorer this year.

In all honesty Tevez should be getting a lot more than 17 goals as the team is built around him. R

Rooney has the same role as Tevez and managed to get 27 goals in the EPL alone last year. Tevez was disappointing in the Champions league. So just because a players role is to be the second striker, doesn't mean you get to score less goals.

Clueless fanboy.

Yeh that's true but if it starts to stir in all parts of his game, i.e training, and the way he behaves around the club its no wonder he wasn't picked. I don't think he is mentally tough enough to play at this level and what it entails.

do you have any idea what happens to players when they don't get enough time on the pitch ?

do you think players improve when they are on the bench most of the time ?

Yes and no. Obviously everyone knows when you're not playing your not happy! But if he isn't confident enough in his ability them surely I'm correct that he isn't mentally strong enough? If you aren't playing then maybe you should be self motivated to get back into the squad.

This is what i meant by my first point. I think there are many players especially in our team that can't take it. You don't play, they get upset, you cannot afford to have that attitude. Take James Milner, he wasn't playing but every time he does, he gives it his best, he has the attitude and application to play at this level.

James is a midfielder. We expect him to retain possession, pass, deliver crosses, create chances, assist, score.

Edin is a striker, we expect him to score goals and he has done exactly that during his time at Man City.

I don't know where this "attitude" stuff is coming from. You certainly don't score 30 goals in 76 games by being lazy on the pitch.

-- Thu May 23, 2013 3:19 pm --

Yea I'm clueless for thinking that Carlos could have scored more than 0 goals in the champions league.

He should be flying around the pitch like the fooking jet plane because he was awol for 6 months. He better sign for Monaco, PSG or go back to home country because he can not offer world class football anymore.

Aguerro - you guys always have excuses why he did not perform well (injured, half fit, family issues, did not sleep well, had a flat tire, etc.) and he very rarely gets the stick around here. I expect he will shine next year.

Edin will not sign for Napoli because he is looking for "overall" better team than MCFC. So, he will stay there or sign for European top quality club such as Bayern, Real, Dortmund, Juventus, etc.

As far as im concerned the positions make no difference. Dzeko far to often doesn't look confident in his own ability IMO, where as players such as Milner always will regardless of how much they play, and not only does it affect them but the players around them. If you think that all a striker is there to do is score goals at this level then i think your mistaken.

Others players offer a lot more on and off the ball than Dzeko does or ever will.

The fan boys on here are hilarious.

I think you lot should go out for a picnic with the Bieber and One Direction fans. Discuss your insane levels of desire and love for one man/band.

Get your facts right pal!!!.....Rooney got 12 goals (not 27) in the EPL last season.

It is idiotic to expect that a 6'4" player moves the same way as a 5'7" player.
Edin is not a quickie-feet midget to rely on dribbling. He is a 6'4" giant who pushes you out of the way and smacks the ball really hard into the goal. That is what he does and based on the fact that he is the highest EPL scorer in the team - he does it very well. He would do it even better if City played to his strengths.

On the other hand, Tevez and Aguero play football that is "nice to watch" but unfortunately this is football, not ballet, and their main job (goal scoring) is way below Dzeko's rate, especially considering that City played entire season to their strengths.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

I think that's my, and many others', beef with Dzeko. He doesn't do that which I've highlighted. For a man with such a considerable frame, he very rarely uses it to his or the team's advantage.

How can anyone expect the team to play to his strengths if he doesn't himself?

He doesn't push people out the way though, that is one of the main complaints about him - he has little body strength for a guy his size and is regularly dominated by defenders. Sometimes he doesn't even jump for 50/50 headers as he seems afraid he can't win them, and this causes a lot of annoyance at the ground. He's certainly not what I'd call a strong and brave centre forward.

We could have Messi and certain people in this thread would be bashing him and saying Dzeko is better. Dzeko simply isn't an A lister among football's strikers. He's a good striker who will do well somewhere where he is The One and Only, but his deficiencies have been exposed in our system.
