Re: Edin Dzeko legend

I think it's hilarious when people bring up dribbling or "expanded roles" when talking about Dzeko

When talking about Hart do you guys ever knock his heading skills? Or when talking about Kompany do any of you blast him for not creating more scoring chances?

This is football, you wanna win games; you have to score.

Wins and goals are all that matter at the end of the day.

Way I see it Edin has 10 goals; he's earned his starts.

Until further notice...

Let's be honest - Dzeko never really seems in control of the football when he has possession of it, he never seems absolutely sure about what he's going to do with the ball while running with it and it's because of this that he really doesn't suit the style of football we play from the start of the game. We can do better than Dzeko without spending any money in the summer (Fernando Llorente's contract has run to its end) but I still wouldn't get rid of him...

Dzeko is perfect for the style of football we play when chasing the game. Kolarov and Dzeko come off the bench and we more often than not reap the rewards. There's nobody else in our team that I'd rather have coming onto a cross at the far post, or pouncing on a knockdown, or beating a defender in the air. Dzeko is the classic example of a poacher in modern football - feeding off scraps and grabbing whatever he can, showing great movement off the ball in the box and finishing off what others create for him. Those of you having a go at Dzeko for confidently celebrating tap-ins made by others are being silly; Silva has said himself that he enjoys creating goals for others just as much as he enjoys scoring himself, and if Dzeko is confident he's normally at his best.

Although he's frustrating, he is one of the best strikers we've ever had at the club. He might be the most hopeless world-class striker I've ever seen, but I think that's why I love him. Out of anyone else on the team, I'm always happiest when Dzeko scores because I know how much he's struggled to get a starting place and convince Mancini he's worth giving a run of games.
This indeed is a great post. We get one, about every 10 pages.

Superb post young Robert. The 'Edin enigma' brilliantly summed up.

Pretty rich, coming from a guy who was nerd raging hard, about the praise I received for one of my posts, in this same thread.

You're seriously the dumbest troll I've ever had misfortune of responding to.

Brilliant post Bob, I agree with every word.

Good post. I agree.
But when you say:
"Dzeko is perfect for the style of football we play when chasing the game. Kolarov and Dzeko come off the bench and we more often than not reap the rewards.", that is the same thing as saying he is really a super sub. And Dzeko doesn't like being a super sub.
I think he could create some chances for himself if he wanted. Maybe he is not the best with regard to holding the ball or dribbling. But what Ronaldo sometimes does, i.e.: getting the ball, running hyper fast and scoring, with no need of dribbling any player... I think he could do that.
I mean: I would like him to do that!

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

What I love about this thread is - when you try to make sensible arguments with flat-out Edin haters, it usually end up with "you must be Bosnian" or "there - you are not a true blue". Example few pages back.

What they fail to understand is - by showing such lack of support for one of City players, makes them less of a "true blue" than anyone.

I might be Edin's fan, but I support all City players. All of them. Makes me a bigger fan (as those same people like to somehow measure someone's affection towards this club)than any of these self-proclaimed "die-hards".

If you were true City fans - you would get behind your top scorer. Especially with title on the line.

So instead of analyzing my committment to the club - better do some soul searching yourself.

On related news, in a recent interview Edin called his last minute miss vs. Fulham "worst miss he can remember in his career" :-). It's ok son - it happens to everyone now and then.

Actually get to a game and then you might have the right to even consider yourself a bigger fan than anybody else on this forum. You probably took the piss out of City before Dzeko came along.
