What we needed during that match wasn't Dzeko, it was another striker to open up spaces for Tevez. Dzeko just happens to be there. On another day, it could have easily been Aguero or Balotelli (if he's still around) doing the assist.

This is the exact argument i was having at work today. Someone said that Dzeko come on and changed the game - wrong. Any striker coming on would have changed the game, we just needed another stiker on to give us the numbers going forward and open up space for Tevez ! its a no brainer
Change Tevez to Dzeko in that post and you'd be right. Our deadliest striker without a doubt. If the situation was opposite Dzeko would have made that goal look like a tap in, effortless. But then again if situation was opposite Tevez wouldn't have passed to Dzeko. So not just any striker.

There is a reason Mancini wanted Dzeko on the wing, and that's because he knows Dzeko wouldn't get much service paired with Tevez, that's also why he didn't start him.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

Regards last night he did well for the goal, wherever it was a foul or not is irrelevant, he battled for the ball and kept his composure to feed Tevez so credit where it's due.
His overall performance wasn't great though, as alluded to by others his hold up play wasn't anywhere near up to standard and the ball must have come straight back at us after his inability to keep possession 3-4 times.
He also failed to win his headers, and on a couple of occasions didn't seem to jump at all so there are definitely parts of his game that need improvement.
That said I would rather him be in our squad than not and hope that he decides to stay next year. On his day he has all the qualities to be one of the best in the league and if he can work on the little things he can become a golden boot winner in the future.

Showed his worth again last night, ridiculous that the top scorer at the club starts on the bench. Changed the game when he came on, get him on from the off!

He's better off the bench,

When start he's useless...

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

I can't understand people calling for wingers when the big fella can't even jump and failed to win 90% of the headers.....

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

He doesn't win headers, but he's working massively on his work rate. Twice he tackled their centre backs on the edge of their own area; once we scored, and the other time he laid Tevez off with a great pass who fucked it up. Dzeko worked hard for the team last night. It's a shame the team didn't work hard for him. He doesn't need wingers, he needs to play with a partner up top, preferably Aguero.

Re: Edin Dzeko legend

He's better off the bench yes but he still has done well this season just never seems to take his chance or work hard when he starts

This is just blind-sided. Have you watched the Liverpool game? Dzeko didn't bother to close down any of the two Liverpool centre-backs when Aguero was running his bollocks off.

Your failure to see the rest of team, Zaba, Milner, Silva, Tevez, work so hard for the team and only see Dzeko's contribution that if you weren't just here for the Dzeko bandwagon, it's simply disgusting.

Dzeko is awful.
Tonight he had the touch of a donkey having eaten horse meat.
Stumbling around, miss-timing his touches, can't head, can't jump, can't hold the ball up.
Honestly, we would have been better bringing on Mr and Mrs spoon.

He pass for the goal was initially a foul and then any half decent striker would have took the shot himself but he knows his form has been woefull since the start of last season and so passed to Tevez.

The quicker Dzeko moves on the quicker we will be back to our best.

Brilliant "analysis" !!

I personally find it amusing when some of you tickle our bosnian ballz posting these opinions about Dzeko's contributions. Keep going please!

I sleep tight knowing that without Edin's goals this season we would most likely NOT be in position to play in Champions league next time.

Yea mate, that's why he has 6 goals in last 6 starts...totally ineffective and not worthy of a place on the team :-)

These posts with no merit never stop to amuse me.

-- Wed Mar 06, 2013 1:44 am --

And THIS is just like, "WHA?"...these will give you temporary brain freeze as this level of ignorance cannot be even processed correctly by a human brain.
