EFL Cup - 3rd Round Draw (WBA away)

Wonder how much they made out of all those home ties against PL teams.

Still doesn't explain our current run of aways.

No but it highlights freak runs of fixtures, which could infer a bias, are in reality nothing more than a coincidence. Unless you think that set of tough fixtures for united were fixed?

You haven't noted if these games were at Home or Away which I thought the discussion was all about?

Im lost to be honest, was just replying to an assertion about a run of draws Utd had against Prem opposition. they are 7 homes and 6 aways.

FIIIIIIIXXXXX

i do think City's current run of away draws is shitty but im not to the point where i believe the lge cup 3rd round is being fixed.

They were both. The discussion has been about the difficulty of the draw, facing premiership sides, the unlikeliness of a run of coincidental draws in addition to away ties. Lets not change the narrative of the discussion because you have been presented with evidence which does not support the stated view.

How many people does it take to fix a cup draw? I'm guessing its more than 1 but less than 10. If our domestic cup draws have been fixed over a period of several years, how many people would have been in on it? The people making the draws are constantly changing, they've been on different telly channels, the personnel involved from the governing bodies surely can't have stayed constant. My guess is that we're talking of dozens of people who have been risking their reputations and their careers (would they be committing a criminal act?) all to make sure that City have such horrendous draws as WBA away from home.

Well one things for certain, later tonight we can all look forward to a similar discussion in a different thread after the Chumps league draw.

Just waiting for the phrases "Man City" and "Group of death", "Hot Ball" to be used in the same sentence.

The fact that you have been unable to provide a like for like example suggests this is a highly unusual sequence of fixtures though, possibly even unprecedented. I'm not saying it's fixed, but it's certainly noteworthy.

Its like going to the Casino and betting £5 on black. Red comes in so you bet £10 on black next time. Red comes in so you bet £20 on the next one. If you keep betting on Black but doubling your stake each time you lose, when you eventually win, you'll be in profit by your initial stake.

However I've seen a run of 10 reds before several times. So I would have lost over £5k and I'd have to be betting the same amount to win my £5 initial stake.

10 reds in a row? Next one must be black surely! Nope still 50% chance (or slightly less with green but you get the point).

Each draw is independent of the previous one. If we get through there is a 50% chance we'll be at home in the next round and a 50% chance we'll be away.

I've asked before when this comes up. Who is running this fix in multiple competitions and why ? Have they ever asked somebody to be involved in a draw and when they have the fix explained, pull out ?

Exactly mate that is what a forum is all about. Never understand why people get personal about it. Whether it is me or someone else its just an opinion.

You clearly think different to me but that is absolutely fine.
Spot on Frank! I understand not everyone agrees with me, but I enjoy having the ability to actually talk to talk to them about it, constructively with the occasional RAG accusation thrown around. It's what humanity was built on.
