Electric cars

I've been today to look at a Cupra Formentor plug in hybrid v2 and really like it. I do a lot of small journeys and then a few longer ones so the fact i can run day to day on small electric journeys and anything over 30 miles petrol kicks in seems ideal. Few questions i have if anyone has experience of this:

  • Cost of getting a charging point installed at home? Do you still get a government grant?
  • Anyone got a Cupra formentor? Thoughts / experience?
  • Are hybrids as convernient as they seem? Best of both worlds?

Thanks
I believe installation is in the region of £550 to £800 net of grant.

Due to swap my diesel Kodiaq in Sept. Company car.

Seriously tempted by EV and the Tesla Model 3 has caught my eye. I can only find excellent reviews of it. My tax would drop from about £220 a month to £10! Company cover fuel costs I just pay 10%.

My miles are very low. I've done 19k since getting the Skoda Sept 18. Avgs out to 575 a month. Need to do the odd long journey but on a usual week I do about 15 miles a day.

Makes me wonder if I even need to charge from home. To start with at least. If I can charge whilst shopping at weekend for example. There are regular charge stations at a supermarket 100 yards from the office. Tesla garage on the A6 has superchargers which is 10 mins from my house.

No brainier really! My EV saving me £400 a month in tax!

Basically all you would need and your BIK will drop even further...

We love our model 3 but it is slightly tedious if you don't have a home charger, just FYI. Plus you get almost half the range they tell you in winter and if you use a lot of the car features that drain the battery.

Still, best car I've ever driven.

Thanks for the info. I've been reading up more on it. Couple of great channels on YT. Ie changing energy supplier so u pay around 5p per kwh off peak rather than the usual 13 or 14p.

I agree I need a charging solution at home.
