Re: Eliaquim Mangala

I too was wondering what Sakho's inclusion said about Nasri, but then this French manager can't find a place for Nasri, and Scolari selects Fred & Jo ahead of Loucas Moura.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

The reason he didn't play a minute is because Deschamps is an incredibly cautious manager who picks the people he trusts. He doesn't trust Mangala because he's only played him twice, the reason he's only played twice is because Deschamps ignored him for most of his reign becuase he's playing outside of the main leagues.

He forced his way into the squad, but too late to play enough games to impress Deschamps. Had Mangala been playing in England, Spain or France, I have little doubt that Decshamps would of picked him much earlier and he would of had a chance to force his way into the team. The games he has played for France he has been outstanding, he just hasn't been given enough of them.

I don't know why anyone would put any value on Deschamps selections. I'd much rather back our scouts than him

Let's also not forget Sakho was in front of Koscielny too.

If my memory serves me correctly, Koscielny had a mare and was sent off in the 1st leg playoff vs Ukraine that France lost 2-0. The 2nd leg Sahko came in and scored 2 goals in a 3-0 win to help them qualify. I think the playoffs played a significant part in Deschampes promoting of Sahko into the first XI.

Maybe that game against Sevilla influenced Deschamps decision.

I doubt that, he'd already ignored him for a long time before then and played his two games either side of that (he made his debut a year before in a weird one off game). He just didn't get into the squad early enough, he didn't get picked until after qualification had finished, so never got to play any competitive football for them
